Q: Can you explain what a bargain purchase gain is? When this one time gain is removed from the quarter, how does the quarter compare to last year' quarter? What impact should the overall results have on the stock price going forward?

Q: Hello Peter, Ryan and Team,
I was lucky to pick up a decent amount of PXT on December 20, which means that it is now at a 6% weighting of my portfolio. PTX is my only Energy position other than ENB which is more of a utility.
Would you recommend trimming PTX and adding SU, or replacing PTX with SU, or leaving PTX and adding a 2.5% position of SU or do nothing? I like the momentum of PTX at the moment and with a good cash balance, 6x P/E and no debt, it looks like it should have more room to run.

Q: Would this be a good time to add CSH.UN as a long term hold.
Q: Hi, Could you please comment on Sylogist eranings. What is the impact of bargain purchase gain of $2.7 mln on reported earnings ? Thanks
Q: Hello Peter, Ryan and Team.
Thank you for the update. Hope the new year is treating you well.
How much cash does these changes leave the balanced portfolio with?
Thanks,
Wes

Q: Good morning: If we follow your suggestions to buy and sell in your recent Balance and Income portfolio's, and a lot of members do, the cost of rebalancing is high. In this case nearly a $100 in commissions to sell and buy. Do you account for this when you make your suggestions??
I am also having trouble with your suggestion to buy 1% of this and 2% of that stock. If the goal is to get to 5% over time, that's also a lot of commission fees. There has to be a better way to diversify without paying so much fees.

Q: At the current price level NFI is yielding a bit over 5%. Is this payout level sustainable? If so, would it be advantageous to pick up NFI as a yield stock and wait? Albeit, unlike most yield stocks, this is one with substantial upside potential. Your take please,
Q: Can you confirm the reason for holding US stocks in registered accounts? When you say Registered accounts are you including TFSA's? Thanks
Q: Hi, I’m about even on ecn 1.5% and would like to switch to higher dividend paying stock 3%+ with a little growth.
For 2 years it has done little unless you were lucky and sold at the high.
Would you stick with the banks? I have TD 2.5% and FSZ 1.5%.
Thanks

Q: I have a question. I hold AGT in my TSFA at a price of $31.50/share. My question is how is it legal for the management to be involved in buying out the shares of the company at $18.00 [much lower than when most of us bought in] when they are the ones who were in charge?
I could see a takeover by a group who thinks the shares are undervalued, but how can management be involved? They could have drove down the price through management decisions so they could buy it at a ‘sale’ price and take it private. That’s what it looks like to me.
I am surprised I haven’t heard of a class action lawsuit about this.

Q: I have a question about 722
Hi 5i,
Can you tell me the PE? The EPS estimate on the companies page says about 5 bucks. Would that make the PE around 15? That seems incorrect.
TIA!

Q: Regarding the question on equal weighting, you say that a better case can be made in Canada than in the US for it. One of the reasons that I would probably go for equal weighting in the US rather than market weighting is the high preponderance of FAANG stocks in say, VOO. if they go down en masse , which as you say they haven<t recently, you have problems.
Q: Following up on your recent response that you would limit investment in Canadian equities to 25-40% of one's portfolio, in what country (US) or countries/regions would you recommend investing the balance...and in what proportions? Thank you.
Q: what do you think of the PSD acquisition announced today.
thanks
Don

Q: Overweight in utilities/pipelines. Took profits on CPX & AQN to reduce position and to buy in the consumer non-cyclial space. I currently hold WMT & VGG. I would like to add pure non-cyclical. What’s your opinion on PKI & PLC? Or would you suggest something else.

Please advise on target percent allocation to the sector. Which ones would you recommend and what alternatives would you prefer?.
