Q: I loaded these three ETFs into a dummy Globe & Mail Portfolio with a mock purchase date of January 2, 2018. The output returns to date are CLF (4.5%), ZAG (4.5%) and HYGH (10%). Why did HYGH do so well or is the Globe utility having issues?

Thanks so much!

Q: I read this article in the Globe today that appeals to me because of it's simplicity, low cost (few commissions, no MER's) etc and it's relative performance as measured by the author.

I know it a very simple approach and mirrors the Buffet "Here's what you should do when I die" with my money.

Would be very interested on your take of this and if you think it would be a good idea or not and why.

Thanks

Sheldon

Q: I currently own CLS and thinking of selling this stock and buying SYZ or OTEX or would it be best to buy both? I currently already have KXS and PHO. These are the only 2 tech stocks that I will own after selling CLS. My total weight is only 5%.

Thanks

Q: I am retired, DB pension, and mostly hold equities that generate some dividend income as I prefer to be paid to wait. I believe I need more ex-Canada exposure. Other than VDU most of my portfolios are heavily oriented to Canadian equites and only a handful with apparently significant non-Cdn. revenue streams (ENB, HOT.UN, BAM.A. BIP.UN, TRI, SLF and MFC). Do you know of a source or list of Canadian listed equities that 1) have foreign income streams and 2) pay a growing dividend in Canada? How does someone go about finding this information?

Q: Hi, please comment on my method of transferring unwanted volatile stocks (nflx, vgt, itx, vmd) to safer div. options. I have placed 5% trailing sell orders with a 2% limit until sold or cancelled in order to capture more upside in this likely short bull rally.
Please suggest your best 5 core div. names in Canada, USA and international.
Please use appropriate number of question deductions.

Q: Hi 5I,
The above names are all owned in my TFSA. Of these, I am underweight in COV, IWO, PHO, SDX, SYZ AND VB. I've got some cash to put to work with a long term objective. With consideration to the sector weighting, and my under weights, would you recommend I top up on any at this time or maybe introduce a completely different name or names to the portfolio? Thanks!

Q: I have noticed recently that Aapl, Amzn, Brk, Googl and V that the daily share volume has been about 70 % of the 10 day volume and Shop and Sq have been at or higher than the 10 day volume ( the stocks mentioned are some companies in my portfolio). To me this means that the rise in share price does not have wide support and could fall soon.
Appreciate your comments on the support of the rally and are people hiding money in short term instruments until they can verify one way or the other the next direction of the market.

Q: Hi there, I'm looking to replicate your balanced equity portfolio with a few adjustments for a slightly higher tilt towards growth. I have a 2 part question: Would AQN be a suitable substitute for ENB for an investor? Also, what other more conservative names in your balanced equity portfolio would you swap out for higher growth names at this time?

Thanks!
