Q: Hi Peter,

I am trying to understand CSU's high P/E ratio which I see as 55-60P/E from one site to another. Please help me understand:
Q1 2018 = $8.50 EPS
Q2 2018 = $7.42 EPS
Q3 2018 = $8.95 EPS
Q4 2018 = $9.54 EPS (projected)
Total for the year = approximately $34.41. Current price is $912; therefore $912/34.41 = 26.5 P/E rather than the 55-60?

Q: Hello Peter,
What are your thoughts on GMP Capital? I have lost more than 50% on the stock since I bought it. The company does seem to be doing fine as it gives out special dividends and with recent takeovers of other related companies, I thought GMP would gain traction but it has not moved up much. Yangarra resources has lost lots of its value but mostly due to the sector issues. A few questions please:
i. Understanding that both companies are in different sectors, do you think Yangarra has higher chance of increasing in stock price then GMP
ii. Given our current policies on energy and pipelines, do you see the oil sector recovering anytime soon as i was thinking of putting monies in other companies like Tourmanline etc
thanks very much

Q: Hi Guys,
I submitted this question last week so not sure if it didn't go through or just got lost in the shuffle. The question is as follows: I am concerned about the oil and gas industry going into a prolonged down pricing environment. Can you rank these companies in terms of balance sheet strength and their ability to withstand a prolonged downturn? Can you also speak on if any of these would be in significant financial trouble (e.g. - bankruptcy) over a prolonged downturn?
Thanks,
Dean

Q: HELLO I bought the subscription rights (ALA.r) when you advised so I’ve taken a bath, just wondering if i use it for a tax loss and buy SPB and/or CSU or anything else that you might advise to retrieve/decrease my loss. What would you do? Thanks for the service ... I know we cant bat 100% all the time.

Q: Hi Peter and Ryan: Thanks so much for your calming responses to the current volatility in the markets. This is my third time through a downturn since retiring in 2000. It isn't much fun, but intellectually I know that the market doesn't go constantly down as well as it doesn't go constantly up. Your well thought out reasons helps to remind me of this.
My first question is: in what sector do you place Csh.un.? It works best for me in Income Trusts, as that is why I have it. The TSX places it in Real Estate.
My second question is; is this a good time to purchase an ETF such as VEE and or FEZ? I am overweight in Canada and the U.S. and underweight in Emerging markets and Europe.
Thanks so much. Your advice is wonderful for a small investor such as myself.

Q: Hello Peter and Team,
I hold these three securities in my RIF account with over 20% loss.
I am thinking of selling specially MAXR and PHO to replace them with two other securities with more potential upside when and if the market recover.
Please give your opinion and potential replacements.

Q: Hi,

I want to make a longterm buy in tire stock because I think tires will continue to be needed no matter type of car gas or electric. I was considering cooper or goodyear. Which of these look like they are good value builder for a longterm hold. Or can you suggest some other stock along these lines. Thanks.

Regards
Shyam
