Q: I would like your opinion on these tech stocks for my tfsa. tech stocks were suggested by you in my last question - "For some growth, one could add tech names (US or Canadian), if applicable. We note that less than five years is still considered relatively short-term, so we would keep things on the lower risk profile in general."
if u could rank them, or suggest better ones to research that would be great.

Q: Recently I have been hearing about...on the internet, a lot about liberty checks.
What are liberty checks and why are they happening at this time. It is starting to
look like to me a free government handout. I find it all very confusing.

Q: GE & the DOJ recently reached a $1.5 B settlement related to GE's past accounting practices. My question is should not GE's auditors be punished as well? Further, the investors who bought the stocks at high price by relying on the misleading financial statements are the b biggest victims. Should not they be compensated by the DOJ?

Q: I like to buy stocks after they miss earnings or otherwise have a powerful move down based on news. Kinaxis and NFI were recent examples and both have bounced nicely. I considered SNC when it first fell at the end of January and did not. With today's news it is back at the low. Much of the analyst talk is about the risk of criminal charges and the ban on Canadian infrastructure contracts that would result. I am wondering if that (criminal) possibility was not a factor at $60 in July? Or how about at $48.65 on Jan 21? If this is a reaction to deferred payments on their Chile mine project I think it looks like a buy. If people are terrified about the possible charges it's a different story. How does 5i look at the significance of the 2 guidance downgrades vs the impact of the overhanging court proceedings? To me it looks like a buy if you think they will get a settlement.

Q: I have a capital loss that I want to crystallize in VET, and I was considering buying PPL to maintain sector exposure. I still believe that VET is a company that I would like to hold long term, but I have some capital gains in 2018 towards which I can use this loss to reduce my taxes in my 2019 return.

My concern is that VET could potentially have large gains in the thirty days that I would need to wait in order to crystallize my loss before repurchasing it. My secondary concern is that since VET is paying a substantial dividend (approx. 8.7%), that I might be better off just collecting my dividend and standing pat.

Please let me know what your thoughts would be regarding this idea. Thanks so much!

Q: Cramer had IAC on his show the other day and it appealed to me for a number of reasons (I met my spouse online and we have numerous friends who use Tinder). Upon a quick review it seemed that Match was a big reason for IAC's success (IAC owns 80% of MTCH) so I thought, perhaps I should just own MTCH.

Q: Can you explain to me how there is a 37% short position on MTCH (from RBC) when IAC owns 80% of the stock?
