Q: I currently own a combined 25% share in Canadian financials. I love the dividend, but I know it is heavy and I am concerned about the negative news I read about the banks. Is the future really that bleak for the banks. Thanks.

Q: Question on Analytics: I was wondering if you could consider a new feature to separately evaluate RESP from all other investments and/or exclude it form the overall assessment.. I don't want to count it towards my net worth. I know i can simply delete RESP positions but it would be very useful have a separate analysis for it.

Q: When looking at an ETF, sometimes I see, in addition to Management Fee and Management Expense Ratio (MER), Trading Expense Ratio (TER). I believe the TER reflects costs of maintaining the current holdings of the ETF in-line with what the ETF is trying to accomplish, and can be quite high when there is significant portfolio turnover. Is the TER included in the MER, or should one add the MER and TER together to arrive at the true cost of holding the ETF? I had always thought that the MER was the 'all-inclusive' cost, but I hear/read very little about an ETF's TER (and often, this is hard to find). Thanks.

Q: Hi there, I like the risk profile of the names that you tend to select in the Balanced Equity Portfolio, however I am looking to build a growthier version that is concentrated in fewer names. Which 7 names would you remove to produce a portfolio with more torque?

Also, I am looking to layer on some US exposure at about a 25% weighting of my portfolio. I was thinking either going all HXQ, 50/50 HXQ/CYBR or 50/50 HXQ/VFV. Which do you think would be the best mix?

Thanks!

Q: Are preferred shares suitable for the retail investor?
I admit to not fully understand them but it seems to me that:
- value is primarily impacted by interest rates, so constitutes an interest rate speculation
- the positive or negative effect of an interest rate change will vary depending upon the particular issue
- even on a reset date, an issue will not necessarily trade at par
- the characteristics of individual issues varies a lot, complicating comparisons
- thinner market for individual issues, making for bigger spreads
- trading prices are not transparent
- a pref share ETF may be a better choice

Q: I was surprised with a previous question “What would you recommend if Mr Goodman steps down? Hold? Sell?”
My impression is that he has no intention and there is no indication that he will “step down.” Am I missing something?
From what I have read it also appears that it is unlikely that Medison will succeed in forcing him to step down.
Attached a recent article in the globe. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-knight-therapeutics-ceo-addresses-dissident-shareholders-proxy-fight/
In your opinion do you agree that Goodman will stay in control and get shareholder’s support?
Thanks
John

Q: Regarding the Crius/Vistra transaction (and a previous question on the topic). When I asked RBC Direct Investing about tendering my shares they stated:
"Currently there is no tender offers available for KWH.UN. If you are referring to the Vistra energy take over of Crius Energy, when this take over has been finalized it will happen automatically."

Q: They announced a bought deal today for 10 million shares at $0.80 per share. Beyond the dilution of existing shareholders, what does this mean for the stock? How do purchasers of shares in bought deals typically treat those shares, ie do they dispose of them over time or do they typically establish a long term holding?
