Q: I understand that soon cannabis edibles will be legal in Canada.
I believe this will bigger than smoking the stuff.
( I enjoy a cookie much more than filling my lungs with smoke).
I betcha the big cookie companies are high on getting into this.
Are there any companies, large or small, that one could invest in or is it too early?
Thanks
Derek

Q: Hi Peter

every quarter they highlight growing sales and EBITDA, but it never translates to the bottom line

profit is flat

what is wrong with the company, that growth never comes out the bottom line?

also with 59% of revenue from the USA, why does it need to have currency hedges to protect itself from rising material costs priced in US dollars? --that should be a natural hedge

most quarters (except last one) those hedges are a drag on profits

and now they hedge interest rates too !!

thx in advance

Q: You briefly answered a question today about how a Hauwei ban in Canada might affect Telus ("equipment replacement"). Can you expand on this and provide more colour on the effects of such a ban on Telus (eg would you expect this to cause a drop in Telus share price)? Related to that, the effects on BCE and RCI.b relative to Telus (ie which of the three will fare the best)? Thx!!

Q: Dear 5i
My wife contributed $5000 to her TFSA 2009 , 2010 and 2011 totalling $15000 . Two years later it was necessary for her to withdraw the total amount leaving a balance in her TFSA of $0 .
In 2018 we calculated that from 2009-2018 her total allowable contributions totals ~$57500 . As such she puts this much into her TFSA in a lump some in 2018 .
CRA informs her that her contribution room Jan 1/18 is only $50300 and as such says she has over contributed by roughly$6900 . Does this sound right to you or have we somehow miscalculated .
Thanks
Bill

Q: These three companies are a part of balanced equity model portfolio as of last report. All three are down somewhere in the range of 15-20% since April 30. Do you still like/recommend them (i.e. are they still a "buy") or there is a change in your views and you are going to dump them and replace in BE portfolio?

Q: There has been some really good traction over the last month and with their recent announcement stating that by the end of June, they will release a new Syscoin Protocol which will provide its network with one of the highest throughput rates of a public blockchain protocol. I would like your thoughts on this recent announcement and whether its a good time to buy this stock.

Q: Wow, oil stocks are taking a whollop today, is this slide justified? Or, do you think this is a good day to jump into oil for a short term hold. I bought these stocks in December and sold in April for a 15% gain, and might consider again. Or, does it look like this downward trend is going to continue.

Q: With all signs pointing to a long US/China trade spat, what sectors do you see holding their own. I would expect that Tech and Consumer Products will be hurt the most. Your comments would be appreciated.
