Q: Could you provide me with a few examples of companies or sectors which could be considered blue chip, dividend paying, non-cyclical? I would like to move some of my cash to these types of stock. I currently have a 30%+ cash balance overall.

Thank you......Ron

Q: Hi folks, can please ask your opinion on Q2 results for Whitecap, last Thursday. Looks like they posted a profit, and seemed upbeat in their commentary going forward. Also, is the addition of ex-Saskatchewan Premier, Brad Wall significant appointment? Started a position today at $3.82 and willing to hold with dividend. Thanks as always, jb Piedmont Quebec

Q: Hello there,
For the above stocks, which are in my RRSP, gains in about a year are 15%, 37%,26% and 15% respectively. I didn’t plan it but just happened to buy approx $5k in each of these on a near 52 week low I guess.
I read a comment about letting your winners run, but also am learning about taking profits and not being greedy for more.
What do you look for to make a smart decision, please?
In the examples given, are any obvious sells or keeps?
Thank you for your help!

Q: In your recent market analysis you noted the $13trillion in negative interest bonds as a positive. Presumably the assumption is this money would move to equities for better returns. The most recent report shows the $13 trillion is now over $15 trilllion. Also central banks are cutting interest rates. Does this change your outlook at all?
Many thanks.
Mike

Q: What do you think of averaging down on a small position (less than 1% of our portfolio) of PHO over the next few weeks. Our current Average Cost is $1.61. I'm OK waiting a few years for improvement in their sales volumes. I would think some key question are "Does PHO have an advantage over competitors and can their technology be applied to additional industries beyond semiconductor production?" Their sales are down dramatically, but their margins and cash holdings seem OK.

Thanks.
