Q: I am looking at Chartwell (CSH.UN) and wondering if the stock has been unfairly punished by the terrible issues that Sienna and other LTC facilities have experienced. Apparently Chartwell is a well managed company and it only has about 10% of its facilities in LTC. I am thinking to buy CSH at the current low prices. I would appreciate your thoughts and guidance.
Thank you, Patrick

Q: Hi 5iTeam,
My question is on withholding tax on US equities/etfs. If I purchase dividend-paying US equities in a non-registered account, there will be tax withheld which I can use at tax time as foreign tax credit to reduce my Canadian tax. What if I purchase a dividend-paying US etf, how would withholding tax come into play in this scenario?
Also there is no withholding tax on dividend-paying US equities if they are purchased for a registered account. Would US withholding tax apply if a dividend-paying US etf is purchased for a registered account?
Cheers,

Q: Thank you for the information on CloudMD, I accidently had it flagged as private, my follow-up question is, I was interested in the company due to the remote health services and digitizing the medical sector, I did well with a company in the past in this space but it was bought out and looking for another. I know Telus is in this space but very small compared to it's other business. Any suggestions?

Q: Morning 5i,

Looking to diversify our portfolios
Longterm hold.
Wanting to add a real estate position(s)
Obviously we could go up or down due to covid and a rougher than expected recovery.

Looking for advice on which to do first.
ETF, such as above OR pure play such as CAR.UN?
Which is a huge portion of XRE anyways.
*your top rec's in this sector would be greatly appreciated as well.

Understanding the risks and dynamics our thought was adding an attractive pure play at lower valuation and then the reit assuming it may be depressed for a longer time period.

Looking forward to your advice and thank you for the great stuff here! The info is tremendous.

Q: Hi Peter and Team,

Hope you all continue to be safe! Question is on Aritzia's earnings and the market reaction. They seem to have done quite well and same store sales growth looks pretty strong. I initiated the position with the BE portfolio recently but didn't buy all the stock I was supposed to and was looking at adding the rest following the earnings realease.

Your thoughts, please!

Thanks!

Q: Stagflation is beginning to be mentioned as a medium term possibility. What sector(s) provide best protection against this and could see growth? Can you recommend an ETF or two (if a handful of individual companies would be better, please recommend a couple instead). Thank you in advance.

Q: Hi 5i,
Macys recently announced an offering of $1.3b senior secured notes and judging from share price spike the markets seem to like something about it.
Can you tell me why this happened and if this stock is investable with potential at current price, for a 2 year time horizon. Why/why not?

Thx
