Q: What do you think is the motivation behind Trumps proposed tax incentive to buy equities and what would be the ramifications for investors should it happen?

Q: Hi, great job my portfolio is up, thanks.
I bought GUD for sector, management, cash position, growth (safety) etc.
They finally made an acquisition which looks ok.(no homerun?) still down ,bought at $8.50
Looks like an important quarter in March,if it is good all should be ok, if not ,it will not have the big cash backstop that it did in the past. Won’t this be a problem?
Getting a little impatient, if it is only a so-so or down quarter, is it not time to seriously consider an alternative? Or would you give it “another”3-5 years?
Thanks,

Q: Hi,
Prediction : PWF preferred series I and G will be redeemed. POW put aside 350MM to redeem preferred shares in the latest reorg. These 2 perpetual issues are down significantly since mid-Dec, have the highest coupons and total about 350MM …POW has also perpetuals with high rates but they seem pretty stable. Your guess? Could they be redeemed as soon as this quarter? Thanks.

Q: Greetings!
I am looking to add some solid industrials weighting to my TFSA. 5 yr plus time frame. Can you offer your top 5 stocks , and top 5 Canadian focused ETFs please with rationale? Also, interested in any Canadian based ETFs that focus on US industrials. I could use some additional US focus, so how would your top picks in each ETF category compare with each other in terms of geographic region?

Q: It is on 5I Tech Analysis on Nov 25 with a $7.70 B.O. It is the co's intention to buy back(BB) $100m worth of shares in 3 stages on "Tender Offer".1)On Aug 29/19 BB 4m shares @ $8 = $32m. 2)Feb 3(closing price $7.72) stated offer to purchase 4m shs @ $8.25(closed@ $7.91today) to commence on Feb 7 to Mar 16.(=$33m). 3)Later this year, will offer to BB $30-35m @ min. $8.50. My 2questions 1)should I tender my shares knowing that there is a higher offer @ $8.50 later in the year plus a current 5.08% yield.?Alternatively,I can tender & buy(hopefully at a better price) at a later date. 2)If I buy more shares the next few days(today's price of $7.91 lower than offer price of $8.25),do they qualify for the $8.25 tender offer? Please advise. Also please comment on the Q results released today after close of market. Txs for u usual great services & views

Q: I have neither Telaria or Rubicon Proj. but I would like to start a position. With the merger between them how would you play this? Buy both before the merger or buy one and why. What happens after the merger? Do you think the merger makes good sense ?
Thanks, Peter

Q: I have noticed lately that some of your answers have an addendum that people associated with 5i may have financial interest in companies mentioned. Does this represent a shift of philosophy away from unbiased answers?

Q: I own Boardwalk and Interrent REITs. I have nice gains in both. Boardwalk finally seems to have some momentum behind it after languishing for a few years. With a solid quarterly release in the next couple of weeks, do you think it can continue to move higher and get back to the $60's. They keep saying they are trying to diversify the portfolio, but no major moves yet out of Alberta. Alberta's economy is doing better, but the name will always be attached to oil until they diversify throughout the country. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Jason

Q: I bought into both of these companies last year and am down about 50% (along with the rest of the sector). In spite of the overall sector performance what would be your expectation of these 2 companies for this year and next? Should I get out while there is still something left and reinvest into something considerably less volatile or is there a chance these companies can still make a comeback in the short term?? Thanks
