Q: An investing strategy question for a TFSA where growth is the primary concern, the investing horizon is 5+ years and I知 comfortable with risk. About 18 months ago, market turmoil resulted in me going all to cash in my TFSA. I have since returned to growth stocks and have learned to better weather the volitility that comes with them. Today I知 wrestling with the same capital preservation vs ride it out scenario as many investors. My question is what advice would you provide given my growth objectives. I知 considering selling CSU and GSY simply because I have nice profits, while keeping PHO because I知 down 30% and would rather not sell at a discount. Does this make sense or am I selling 2 winners and keeping a loser that might drop much further as the economy slows? Is selling PHO the better capital preservation move? BTW, I知 open to not selling anything in this market as you frequently advise the best move is sometimes no move. I guess I知 wondering what your thought process would be in scenarios such as this. Thank you for all of your guidance, at times like this it痴 invaluable!

Q: An exchange question: is it common for buy or sell orders that are not multiples of 100 to be bypassed?

I recently had a purchase order for 150 shares say at $10.01. 100 shares will filled at $10.01, the stock then dropped to $10.00, but my order was not filled. I.E. some other order was filled for $10.00. Annoying! RBC said this was a function of the exchanges.

Is there a logical explanation?

Thanks.

Q: I know you really like BNS but with TD at a 52 weeks low, would you pick it over BNS for a long term holding. (Building a position for dividend income)

Also, can you explain me if there is an advantage to own 2 full positions of banks vs 1 of bank and 1 of SLF (knowing that its your top insurance company pick)

Q: Are options always exercised when in the money?

i.e. I hold calls that expire in the money. Will my broker exercise them and put shares in my account? If I have no cash will they buy and sell the shares for me?

Say there are five thousand $60 call contracts in existence. Stock hits $60 at 4PM Friday. Will all 500,000 shares be called away from the writers? I have had this scenario happen to me and my shares were called away.

Thanks

Q: Could you please comment on the Q4 results reported today. The stock is down 21% from its high on Jan. 5/20 versus a 3% loss for the TSX over the same period. I know it is problematic with todays volatility and uncertainty but could you venture an opinion as to how you think this stock will do over the next 6 to 12 months versus the market in general. Thank you, Ian

Q: OVV (Encana): just looked at fundamentals supplied by CIBC Investors Edge - everything looks very good, if the data is correct? Please provide comments on this stock for me as a potential BUY or not? What are the true facts? Here is what CIBC had: ROE=15.47, TTM PE = 1.75x, B.V. = $28.00, D/E = 83% (high) & PR = 7.17%.
