Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: BAM.A is recovering slower than I expected given the very favorable opinions by most experts. Is there a good reason to be cautious given the current uncertainties or it is a great buying opportunity.

Q: Dear 5i,

Many MSCI Index ETF's rebalance and reconstitute semi-annually at the end of May and November. In your opinion, would this move the prices for the following MSCI ETF's; ZUQ, ZEQ and ZGQ? These three ETF's have relatively low assets under management with BMO.

thanks

Ian

Q: I am just wondering if you heard about this company going public in the near future

Q: I currently own AD and I'm down about 50%. Would you recommend selling AD and switch to BPY.UN?

If BPY.UN keeps its dividend rate, my total dividend yield would improve slightly. So I have a slight advantage on yield (if BPY.UN does not cut it yield).

Yet BPY.UN has more potential to bounce back up from the $12 level than AD from the $9+ level. The growth part is seemingly more in favour of BPY.UN. Would you recommend such a switch? Your opinion is much appreciated. Thanks.

Q: Hello Peter,
Is Well health technologies taking a hit due to the financing that was lower than the current price? If so, is it a good time to add to it.. Why are companies like fortis and other utilities and telecoms taking a hit . I thought lower rates would favour utilities and with work from home, companies like BCE would benefit as more people use the network. Lastly, do you feel it is time to add to LSPD or take a break given recent surge.. thanks very much

Q: Hello Team,

I was hoping to get your opinion and tickers on the next upcoming Canadian "darlings".

I know you are very favourable of LSPD.

Would you be able to provide few more of those companies: the ones that have huge potential despite the current risk,

Thank you very much

Q: Hi 5i,

I realize this Ely is a very small and risky company but it looks as though Sprott has recently taken on even more exposure. Also what are your thoughts on Wallbridge’s recent results? What are you thoughts on taking a position in either wallbridge and ely? Usually royalty companies are safer?

Also, any opinion on the outlook for silver miners?

Thank you!

Q: Moderna seems interesting for all the wrong reasons. I know they are promotional as you like to put it, but they don't seem to have a single product yet, indeed nothing is even at the clinical testing phase. Their minimal income I presume is from some deals with larger companies and/or simply interest from their cash horde. Do you know of anyone in the leadership with a dubious past or any other reason to suspect out and out malfeasance?

Q: What do you think of Lincoln National? Is the dividend "safe", Do you see it moving back to a pre-Covid level, are there better choices.
And, what stocks do you see thriving in a low/negative environment?

Q: My outlook on the market is that there is a lot more downside risk than upside potential. I am thinking to use bull and bear ETF's to reduce market risk in a pair trade of sorts. For example, go long NASDAQ (QQQ) and short S&P (SH). The other one I'm thinking about is long investment grade (LQD) and short high yield (SJB). What do you think of the strategy generally? Secondly, what is your opinion on my choices?

Q: I sold LSPD yesterday after more than doubling up and was quite pleased with the $29.50 number until I saw that it has closed at $34. I want to be a long term owner an my thinking was that it would drift down from my sale price as reality sets in over the coming months. I am well aware that this is why 5i does not advocate this sort of trading and trying to time things but my question now is whether you think it settles down a few dollars or follows Shopify to the moon? My opinion with all of the fear created by our media is that restaurant business will be slower even once they are allowed to open fully. Q: Does a guy wanting to own long term bite the bullet and get back in now or roll the dice and wait? Thoughts?

Q: Good morning, Peter and Ryan.
Sorry this is to follow up with my last question. I forgot to include ATZ in my tickers.
I have limited cash in CAD RRSP account now. I think the each of above four stocks (i.e. XBC, DOO, ATZ, WELL) will be good additions to diversify my current portfolio. But I may add only two of three of the above. Can you please rank them?
Thank you,
Yiwen
