Q: Hello peter and team,
I’ve been following Peter since he use to run Sprott mutual fund. appreciate over the years how much I learned. “The BIG picture of investment “
1.Currency is another form of hedge. Served me very well till today on many occasions
2. Diversification. Surely enough I have to believe it
3. Weed stocks valuations and Big picture outlook for Energy sector in general. No regret to miss the boom and bust. Sleep well! Healthy investment ha!
Here is my other questions:
1 Ignore the market indexes up and down, I have 50/50 split between S&P/Nasdaq( actually tech portion is over my 50% as SP has 25% tech), what’s your outlook the growth and earnings for the tech sector compare to the rest of the groups during the Q1 2020? Less impact or nearly the same as overall market
2 when people overstocked toilet paper instead of shopping for good companies in stock market in March, thinking about post virus investment strategies, What we learned from WFH, human can’t live without tech. It has changed humans life forever? I remember the article your investment thesis is simple, buy apple or blackberry? Go to the mall and airport have a look.
Looking forward to reading Peter’s articles on financial post !
Thanks you and team, keep up the great service

Q: If I believe that there will debt problems before this is over , does one want to continue to hold HFR. I have held it for a couple of years but would sell it if things go down to add to stocks I like. A couple of weeks ago it went way down when market crashed. I read your answer to stay put as things were a little crazy in bond market. Is it the worry of the bond holders that the companies will go under and in fact this is not a real safe holding right now as I see 1|2 of it's holdings are BBB?

Q: Just a simple persons observation.
WCS @ $5/bbl = 3 cents/liter
Using another metric: Macdonald's cup of coffee for seniors(1/2 liter) = $1
MacD coffee is roughly 65 X the price of WCS
GO figure????

Q: I see you made recent comments on Match group. I'm interested and it looks very strong fundamentally (pre covid), very high roic, roe. But debt looked like it could be pretty high and CEO sold a large chunk of shares last month. Can you comment on its financial situation and would you have concerns with it making it through some negative quarters?

Q: Based on the following from G&M today, and my horizon of 5+ years, can I have your opinion on continuing to hold:

"NFI Group Inc. (NFI-T)

On March 25, Adam Gray, who sits on the board of directors, invested over $10-million in shares of this company. He acquired 1-million shares at a price per share of $10.85 for an account in which he has control or direction over (Coliseum Capital Management LLC), raising this account’s holdings to 3,206,246 shares.

On March 25, director and the company’s former president and chief executive officer John Marinucci invested over $105,000 in shares of NFI. He bought 10,000 shares at a cost per share of $10.51, lifting this account’s position to 145,500 shares."

Thx

Q: In early March, as the markets dramatically weakened due to looming economic damage from Covid-19, I sold four smaller, lower-quality positions within my portfolio, mainly for tax-loss reasons (the proceeds represent <2% of the portfolio value), with the intention (option) to re-buy after 30 days (as my philosophy is long-term buy-and-hold). The question now, of course, is whether to re-buy any or all of the 4 positions sold (fortunately, 3 of the 4 are trading at prices substantially lower than what I sold them for). I wonder what your advice would be as to whether to re-buy any or all of these at this time:
(a) Russel Metals;
(b) Cenovus (note—I already hold Suncor as a major position, which I could add to instead);
(c) MTY Food Group (I already hold as major positions SBUX and QSR);
(d) Premium Brand Holdings.

Q: Are there any companies on the venture exchange that are you like? I already own People corp and Covalon. I am looking for others to put research into but there are so many to choose from it's overwhelming. Any direction you can point me in would be great. Thanks.
