Q: HI 5i,
I would like to initiate a position in Brookfield Infrastructure. I know the difference between BIPun and BIPC on how they are taxed. I would choose to buy BIP.un in a registered account, or BIPC in a regular account. BUT, the price difference is ridiculous ($40 vs $47). And the data I see on YahooFinance do not match, even if these two are more or less equivalent. Eg:
BIP.un: Eps=0.19 P/E=212
BIPC Eps=1.15 P/E=40
Could you clarify where is the truth in these numbers?

Q: hello 5i:
we are (satisfied) holders of DIVO. Would like your take on IDVO and see its not listed in your data base yet. Is there another International ETF you'd recommend? We currently hold both VIGI and EFAV in the international space.
thanks

Q: You were last asked to opine on Draft Kings on Sept.11th. How do you feel about it now? I know it took a hit recently on news that college basketball is considering a ban on “prop betting.” But that may have little overall impact on revenue. I assume sports betting is here to stay and this seems to be a leader hence my interest. Thanks.

Q: I believe BCE cut their dividend by 50% in 2008 during the financial crisis and restored it in 2009 the following year. In your opinion, is the company in the same financial condition as it was during the financial crisis of 2008 which may warrant a reduction in dividend? It looks like Telus also reduced their dividend during this crisis. Can you comment on why the management teams may have acted differently with their investor dividends. I would appreciate your thoughts.

Q: Hi,

I know you likely have commented on this (or similar) before, but I can't find the references in the Q&A.

Recognizing you can't personalize your opinions, in general what maximum percentage of an equity portfolio do you think the average investor could hold in the Brookfield family of stocks (specifically BN, BAM, BEP and BIP) and the Constellation Software family (specifically CSU, LMN and TOI)?

For context this is for long-term total return and in an otherwise well-diversified portfolio of CDN, US and international stocks.

Many thanks for your insights.

Q: Hi Team,
Is the party over in the markets this year? Should we be cashing out for conservative dividend payers at this point? Funny ; just when I hear more and more talk of people buying small cap agressive names the market seems to have “peaked” and now rolling over. It’s hard to believe the economy is so “hot” in the US when I hear so much about people being hundreds of dollars away from paying their bills , and with mortgages renewing people that were on the verge will be slammed. Tech companies have laid off thousands over the last year. Some I talk to believe the numbers that the government put out are “false” and politically driven to make the current president look good: especially heading on election year. Sometimes a person really has to wonder if there’s a crisis in the making with the high inflation , interest rates etc. Not that I am a conspiracy theorist but over the years it certainly looks like books can be cooked, so to speak. Just looking for your take . Thanks
