Q: The bond portion of my portfolio is equally weighted between CLF and ZAG. With CLF having a government bond and shorter term focus and ZAG having a corporate bond component and longer average bond life, would it be sensible for someone with a medium risk profile to sell CLF and consolidate the bond portfolio in ZAG to take advantage of the higher interest return?

Q: Hey guys,

We already own DXG, would you recommend any others instead of DXG for international exposure? Also, a full position on individual stocks is between 4 to 5% (hopefully letting them grow to 7 to 8%, ), what about etfs?
Thanks

Q: I own GSY.DB in my non-registered account. I have given instructions to convert my debenture to shares at the end of the month. I bought the debentures when they first came out at a price of $100.00. What will be my ACB for these new shares? What price do I use when I report a capital gain for tax purposes assuming I have a capital gain?

Q: I am always interested in penny stocks with actual earnings that seem overlooked by the market. Are you aware of any reasons why this stock is so continually overlooked or, conversely, any upcoming activity that might burst the stock out of its sub-$.25 status?

Q: Hello Peter,
Based on your last reply, i agree day to day movements is not something to worry about; however, i am noticing Novo Resources and Karora Resources are showing either lower stock movements or trending lower whereas the sector is surging.. is there any news? Also, can you recommend a good silver ETF; I was thinking of SLVP OR SIL. Please advise. Thanks

Q: Would the Three Gorges Dam failure be as cataclysmic to the markets and supply chain(s) as the rumblings I am hearing?

If so, would such a threat be worth hedging against? ie., reducing equities now, taking profits, etc?

Q: ALS announced today the purchase of the remainder of Liberty metals and Mining. ALS reportes it will be extremely accretive, yet it also says that the royalties will decline to 0 by 2030 with the progressive reduction of coal. Is this a good deal? It feels like they are buying cash flow for the short term to cover up problems elsewhere. Why would one buy a business that has declining cash flow, ultimately to zero? The stock price went up today, but I wonder if this is just traders....

Q: Further to the question related to the dividend cut for CDZ, is it safe to assume the cut is related to the associated dividend cuts from the underlying securities? And if that is true, then can we assume that once these securities reinstate their dividends, then the CDZ dividend will, in turn, rebound?

OR, is it a case whereby the ETF is periodically reconstituted and it is a fresh start for the underlying securities and we have to wait for the natural progression of dividend increases related to these "new" underlying securities? In this case how long does an individual security have to be "off-side" to be turfed from the ETF?

Thanks for helping me understand...Steve
