Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Personally I find very, very little value in quotes from Co.'s
Officers. Do they ever say something negative about their CO.? Even Nortel had positive quotes. That's their job.
Investors of Bankman-Fried were told great things.
Maybe some analysis would be better.

Q: If BEP.PR.O preferred shares are going to be redeemed for $25 on April 15, why are they trading for $25.25 today. I own these preferred shares & am wondering if I should sell today for an extra 25 cents per share or wait until April 15. I have enough shares to cover the $9.99 commission fee. Thanks … Cal

Q: I'm always fascinated to see the disclosure statement at the end of your answers about US listed companies.

"Authors of this answer, directors, partners and/or officers of 5i Research and/or affiliated companies have a financial or other interest in ___"

Do you have a full list of your US holdings for disclosure that you are comfortable sharing with your members?

Q: I have held these for quite awhile and I try to be a patient investor but it is challenging. Do you see any catalysts in the 1 to 2 years that might move these stocks significantly higher? The small cap. sector seems to be gaining some interest so I thought these might ride along. thanks

Q: I hold DYN6001 in my non-registered savings account to generate USD income. It has low volatility but relatively modest monthly income due to management fees. Would ZWB.U be a better choice? Its current yield is 7.2% but comes with an MER of 0.72%. Can you suggest other options for USD income with low volatility?

Q: If you could only buy one of these companies for long term growth which would you make the case for? Obviously AMZN is an order of magnitude larger. They are both slotted into the consumer discretionary sector, but how closely do you see them tracking to the factors that would move that sector? Do you foresee AMZN initiating a dividend one day? Does any other U.S. name stand out to you that you vastly prefer? Thanks for your thoughts.

Q: Hi 5i!

Respecting these are in different sectors, if you could only buy one for growth for a 3-5 year hold which would it be? Why? (I’m ok with the risk associated with a high growth name as long as the fundamentals are compelling)

A million thanks!

Q: Hi Guy,

Just wanted to get your thought on Eric Nutall's take on the oil market on BNN yesterday.

He believed that more specialized companies (top picks were BTE, CPG, PD) were more promising than generalized companies like CNQ and ENB.

I value your opinion and would be happy to spend more points for a more detailed answer., especially on CNQ and CVE.

Q: Hi,
Today (April 04) you answered Jacques' question by suggesting a switch from EMA to FTS. Would you suggest the same for BEPC/and H? I am trying to "replicate" the performance of an ETF by holding some of the utility companies. Hence this question.
