Q: Just read your email update on preparing for potential increased volatility. One of the measures was to focus on lower beta stocks, which I do anyway. I went though all of my holdings (easy because beta is one of the metrics I track).

I was surprised with one of my holdings = CDZ, the Canadian Dividend Aristocrats ETF, whose beta is 1.1. I would have thought that with the very nature of this ETF that it would have a much lower beta. Can you explain why the beta is as high as it is?

Thanks for your help...Steve

Q: I am trying to build a TFSA asset mix and have looked at the top companies in a number of ETFs. I already have investments in Oil & Gas. I would appreciate any suggestions for companies that I can add that would be stable and not high risk as I am 70. I have been mostly looking at dividends and growth companies of Canadian companies due to the tax implications of a TFSA. Thank you.

Q: I currently own 2000 sh. of this co. and would like to go to 5000 but since the price is continually dropping I am hesitant.
I looked up the insider trading and found out the CEO and a director have been doing an inordinate amount of selling.
I see they have large holdings but continue to sell at these low prices.
Do you think they know something that the average shareholder isn't aware of?

Q: Hi 5i,

Thank you in advance for you guidance. It is much appreciated. So, I am very bullish for gold and silver. I have invested in physical gold and but I want to take advantage of gold and silver companies as well. I love The Gold Fund at EuroPacific Asset Management (https://europacificfunds.com/funds/gold-fund/) that is managed by Adrian Day, but it requires a $100K minimum investment for Canadians. Can you recommend a really great ETF or Mutual Fund that is similar?

Q: Over the last 10-20 years, I have found that I have done the best buying and holding several smallish, but established companies that seem to have good long term growth prospects. Have made very large gains by holding stocks like CSU, BYD, PBH, WSP and GSY for 5, 10 or more years. I am trying to identify which smallish but established companies might be the best candidates to produce some very significant gains over the next 10+ years. Would you please rank the following in order according to which you think are the most likely to generate some very significant gains over that time frame. I hold the majority of these, but not in large positions, and there are a few I do not currently hold. Also, if you have another 2 or 3 companies that you think would fit this strategy, could you indicate which ones and where they would rank in the list. I'm not worried about sector, as my portfolio is well diversified, and I am tolerant of risk. Take how ever many credits you feel this question is worth. Thank you.
