Q: Go Easy finally broke 100$ on their announcement about the sale of PayBright and Affirm holdings. This seems very positive. Historically it has been noted they have been valued lower due to the business segment they operate in. Do you see this announcement as reducing perception of the company and will allow it to trade at higher multiples? BMO Investorline Value Analyzer product shows close to 90% upside from here is possible.
Q: I have not seen any time-lines related to the proposed minority take-out "proposal". Do you think that it would be possible to complete the transaction in 2021 or will it likely slide into 2022. Thanks
Q: Greetings,
We're looking for 5 very low cost ETF's for our new RRSP. The idea behind it is to hold it for a long time and let compound interest do its thing.
1) Can you kindly peruse our "portfolio" and comment on our strategy:
S&P index fund
TSX Index fund
Emerging market Index fund
"Moat" characteristics fund (Global)
Momentum characteristic fund (Global)
2) Can you suggest specific ETF names?
Many thanks!

Q: Hello Team
CAE wins a $275 Million dollar contract over 8 years and the share price drops 6% on 1 Million shares traded.
What gives ? Was there some bit of news that I missed. Was the contract too insignificant?
Thank You

Q: WPT (WIR.UN.WIR.U) is a Canadian Cie having its business in the USA, but in this case it is mentionned :
« Distributions paid by the REIT to a Canadian unitholder that are made out of the REIT's "current or accumulated earnings and profits" (as determined for U.S. federal income tax purposes) generally will be subject to U.S. withholding tax at a rate of 15% (generally reduced to 0% for RRSPs). »
1) Does it mean that there is no Canadian tax credit on dividends, but only a foreign tax credit for this stock for the US 15% tax?
2) The US withholding tax is taken monthly in my non registered account, it is indeed around 15% of the dividend (5% per year div.). What about the capital distribution: is it paid on top of the 5% dividend, as a deposit in my account or within the REIT itself?
3) Is it worthen to keep this(excellent?) stock in a non registered account?
4) If it were in a RRSP, should it be in the US account (OTC) to avoid US Tax, or it may be kept in the Canadian account and shall not be taxed ?
5) Is there any advantage for WIR.UN vs WIR.U? Thanks a lot

Q: Thanks for all your excellent work. Having recently moved to the US and opted to convert my young-ish Nova Scotia pension account to an RRSP and a LIRA, I’m looking to invest the ~100k in these accounts. Horizon: at least 5 years, but probably much more (I’m 40). Having narrowed down a tentative list of names (see below – tech-heavy, I realize), and with a focus on growth, I’m hoping to sort out the best buying strategy. Specifically: (1) At this moment, does the conventional wisdom to buy each stock gradually makes sense to you as good rule of thumb (e.g., over the course of a year, for each stock, adding a quarter of the total intended position once every few months or so)? (2) Also: I’d greatly appreciate seeing a ranked list of, say, which five of these stocks you think it would be especially wise to start with (i.e., buy now, or buy more of sooner) and which five you think I should wait to buy. Feel free to dock me for two questions! Thanks a ton, Chris

Q: Some help for Paul asking for ideas to invest in his TFSA. In February (13)?, 2017, 5i answered a request for the top 10 picks harvested from the 5i portfolios. They were as follows: GSY, SHOP, SLF, WSP, GUD, OTEX, SIS, KXS, PBH, and one other I lost track of. Over the 4 years the return, if still held, would be +280%, but even without SHOP or GUD, the return is a respectable +96%. So for Paul and me would you do it again from current portfolio holdings. My New Years resolution is to pay more attention to your picks...........thx. Lionel
Q: Any news/reason why Versabank is up sharply today? They issued a press release regarding its loan portfolio a few days ago.
Q: Any comments on the rather precipitous decline of SEDG today?
Q: Any reason for the sudden spike today? Thank you.
Q: Is this stock a buy at his level ? Thanks
Q: Any news on CCO? Is the drop mainly sector related?
thanks,
Paul

Q: Hi Team,
A couple different parts to this question. The "Geno" sector has exploded this year. Different hot names in the sector seem to be moving 10-20% daily. I have buddies now piling into these names now, so am wondering if maybey there's a "top" coming here soon? Or if you think this Euphoria will continue in the sector? To me it almost feels like gambling to try to buy in to these things right now. Also on this topic, can you briefly give your thoughts on what has made the Geno sector suddenly start to move this year? Its not like geno work is a new thing...or is it just hitting some major progress this year? Same can be said for the EV sector. For fear of "missing out" I am tempted to sell KXS out of my rsp for a slight gain as I hold this name in 2 different accounts to raise funds to buy EAGB (the canadian version of ARKG). My portfolio is currently heavy weighted tech and I currently have no Geno exposure. Is EAGB the best way for me to play this sector long term, or do you have any explosive individual GENO names you would recommend buying for a multi bagger possibility? I have heard BNGO has some good things coming its way? .....Or should I wait for a pullback in the massive run up before I think about doing this...or not at all? If I did buy EAGB I would probably buy and hold it for years as a way to play the sector. It does seem like there could be some major breakthroughs down the road in geno technology.
