Q: I am looking at putting together a medium to high risk portfolio of ETF's to generate above average returns (above 9-12%) over a 5 to 10 year timeframe for a portion (5-10%) of my overall portfolio. Sector diversification is not a major consideration in this portfolio of ETF'S, more the long term growth. If I were to pick 4 or 5 what would you recommend from this list or if you have a better alternative please suggest that. I am looking to equal weight into each of the ETF's. Thanks in advance for your suggestion.

Q: What is you opinion on the expected performance of the materials sector for the next 3-5 years? What is your recommended portfolio allocation (as % of total) for materials? I am 58 years old with 7 years before retirement and have $2+ mln well diversified taxable portfolio mainly consisting of sector and market ETFs. Medium tolerance to risk. I am currently at 10% in materials, thinking about adding 1.5-2% by buying XLB. Thanks.

Q: Considering the (excessive?) rise of stock based compensation and the evaluation of how management treats their shareholders vs how they treat themselves, who would you recommend as a management team that consistently behaves and demonstrates respect for their shareholders, please, thanks.

Q: I'd like to assess the following group of ETF's I am considering purchasing from a conservative and safety point of view ...... HYPT has been used as the fixed income part of the portfolio . Please advise if this is appropriate and if not a suitable replacement ? The 5i income portfolio has Canadian preferred, convertible bond, and high yield US bonds for around a 15% weighting as the fixed income section ...... Please give a rating of between one and ten with one being the most " conservative and safe " for the following group of ETF's . I will assign the 5i income portfolio a four just so I can see how my choices rank against it using the criteria I suggested ...... Also everything I have chosen is a Hamilton product. Does 5i consider that problematic ? Thanks for your terrific service .....

FMAX 10%
HMAX 10%
QMAX 20%
HYPT 15%
SMAX 20%
LMAX 10%
HYLD 10%
HDIV 5%

Q: Dear 5i team.

I know these Qs are all asking for opinions, so appreicate your input on the following:

At what price does SPB look attractive for income and limited capital risk?

What % does Brookfield own of SPB and at what point do you think this gets cheap enough for them to take private?

What seems to be the problem with mgmt getting this business to achieve profitable growth, and create shareholder value?

Seems to me propane distribution and use business has many years of runway left in our lifetimes.

Appreciate your insights.

Q: This and another preferred are going to be redeemed by CIBC. While I lose a nice dividend (and it was about to reset at a higher rate), I profited from the redemption. My holdings are about half they once were due to redemptions. So I am wondering if I should return to the preferred market (which has been nothing but erratic), or reinvest the funds back into Bonds and Stocks.
