Q: We export 4,000,000 bls of oil a day to USA A 25 % tariff will increase the price of Gasoline by 25 Cents a Gallon . Americans do not want this.

The 25 % tariff is just to get our Governments attention to Pay the 2 % to NATO re Defense and Shut our Borders to Drugs and Illegal. Not a bad idea . We have to work at this .

We will have a Free Trade Policy with USA by January 20th 2025.
We will go it alone with no Mexico in our agreement

Q: I generally like and follow your advice when making an investment decision and own the balanced portfolio, plus many stocks in the other portfolios. But I strongly disagree with you on class A split shares, especialy ftn.I've used them for years and have made a great deal of money on them, for example I purchased ftn at around 7.50 paying 20% dividend,it now sits at 10.15!!They are definitely not a buy and hold stock, but can produce a massive amt. of income at times.Dfn used to be a favourite, but went through some tough times and is slowly recouvering!!But not to worry,I still value your advice on most everything else!!

Q: I have watched this stock go up and up and now have room in my TFSA ( where I hold my more growth focused stocks ) to purchase some. This would constitute 20% of my TFSA and 1% of my total cash and registered accounts.
Nothing has changed in my conviction of this stock ( positive ) and all the thoughts about Trump ( and Elon ) are positive regarding the sector. I guess the question is : is this the time to buy , is it at a fair valuation, are there company specifics that will drive the price higher ( or lower ) ? I see you still have it in your model portfolio so assume you still like it. I need ‘ my hand held ‘ in making this decision. Thanks . Derek.

Q: Hi 5i Team.

I have some names in my TFSA account such as ATD, ATX and ENGH (and maybe some others) that are laggers and would like to move out of them and into something with potentially higher returns.
I also own the other names mentioned above.
What are your thoughts and could you recommend 3 to 5 Canadian and/or US names with the reasons and entry points.
also own NVDA that has grown to a huge percentage of the account.
I know that I should sell some but it has been such a great performer.

Thank you
Joe

Q: Donald Trump is causing so much uncertainty in both Canadian and US markets. Canada might even go into a recession.

I know that you mentioned that we should not react to the Trump threat.

However, if I had to sell all my stocks and ETFs ($400k) and start from scratch today, what would be the top 20 stocks/ETFs ( US and/or Canadian) that that you would invest in.

Would you just buy SPY/ZSP.to/ VGT/ SCHG ETFs in the USA market for safety?

Fyi, I don't like bonds.

Q: From previous responses I am assuming you would buy BN over EQB for a long term hold.
My concern is buying BN after such a run.
Is there room for this run to continue based on its valuation?
I have found in the past you just buy the good ones and let them do what they do.
Is that the case here again.

Thinking of switching GSY for EQB for perhaps a little more stability and eliminate the risk of that interest rate cap adjustment potential.
Your detailed thoughts pls.

Q: Hello, I have $500,000 GIC coming due next month and another $500,000 in March. They both are earning a little over 5%. What safe investment would you recommend, bearing in mind that I need the income it would generate to cover some of my living expenses, as I am retired. Thank you

Q: On 18 November you answered a question by stating: "Lots of Canadian companies have significant US business". You then gave BN, TRI and WSP as examples. I would appreciate it if you would expand on this list. Thank you.

Q: Gentlemen:
This is a two part question. I have been holding a large number of B2 gold shares for 12 years, and it has been a disgrace. In your opinion is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Second Part--- Of the above companies( In an OCT 31 question from Maurice, you thought AGI and LUG had the best growth potential ), would that still be your opinion. Please rank them for growth at this date-BEST FIRST. Also please rank them for RISK- LEAST to most. THANKS, BEN.
