Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: RTA Inception - May 24, 2017 . Active management of 600 M in assets. I am confused on Management Fee of .75% and Managed Expense Ratio of .89%. Is total MER 1.64% ? This investment would be in a managed RRIF account with low risk There would be the advisor’s fee as well. I wanted to clarify the fees and are the returns listed net of fund fees? What do you think of this fund? It is rather new. I understand it is a low/median risk investment. Peter, you and your team are wonderful, your advice clear and easy to understand. I daily read your answers to questions submitted and of course follow your portfolios and reports. Thank you

Q: The utility stocks appear to be moving out of favour. Is this a good time to add, or has their softening only just begun. I realize it's a market-timing question, so maybe the question is better framed as: on the whole, are Canadian utility stocks running below or ahead of their average levels, whether based on FCF, PE, or some other more relevant metric?
Thanks very much...

Q: What are your thoughts on FCX/FM long term (any favourites?) I currently own FCX and ZMT.
Is 5i bullish on copper? If yes, what are your favourite ways to play it for a long-term hold. Are the names above reasonable?

Q: good afternoon,
These 3 companies from the income portfolio offer outsized yields. Also have 5% in Telus. Want to increase my position from 3 to 5 % in BCE. Telecom are out of favor right now but wondering about the future what will weigh more on BCE rising rates or recovery? The goal is to free cash for growth stocks.
Thanks !

Q: My two main holdings are QQQ and VIG in the US and ZQQ and VFV and ZQQ in Canada. I'm looking for two medium risk etfs that will balance these with CD, OIL, Financials, health, and industrials . I'd like reasonable growth expected in the next few years but with a manageable lower risk beta?
1) Can you suggest 2 CDN ETFS
2) Can you suggest 2 US ETFS
3) Can you suggest 2-3 emerging markets ETFS

PS can you also explain why TDOC seems to have a beta of .15??? Considering its growth, that seems impossible?

Q: I am considering adding Power Corp to the income portion of my portfolio as a partial replacement for my overweight position in BCE.  The primary reason for considering POW is that I feel that there may be significant value through their ownership of Wealthsimple.  Are you able to quantify the Wealthsimple value within POW given their rapid growth rate and more than $9 billion in AUM?   Do you think that they are sitting on other spinoff possibilities, similar to the Lion Electric IPO? (that I understand added close to $3.00 per share value to POW).  And perhaps most importantly, do you feel that management is motivated to act to surface value for shareholders?  (they don't appear to have been in the past).
Thank you.
