Q: Hi 5i team,
My understanding of momentum investing is to invest in stocks whose price is in a rising pattern in the recent past and to sell stocks that have a downward trend in price in the same period. So if the market switches from ‘growth’ to ‘value’ focused, would the momentum approach be a good choice to capture this change automatically when growth stocks fall and value stocks rise? Can you please expand and comment on the use of momentum investing strategy by ETFs? Please provide comments and thoughts on using this momentum strategy ZXM for asset allocation to Int’l developed markets. Many thanks.

Q: Hi - I'm trying to beef up the fixed income side of my portfolio and non-convertible debentures such as the ones above look like a very interesting alternative to bonds. Their yields are >5.5% and CSU.DB even adjusts its distribution for inflation each year. What am I missing here? It seems like people should be all over these, but their prices don't reflect that.

Q: The CEO of Brookfield made the following comments in recent Letter to Shareholders: "With no meaningful inflation on the horizon and high unemployment numbers, there is an expectation that interest rates will stay low and that stocks that were not bolstered by the pandemic trade will recover....Low interest rates will continue to drive demand for alternative investments. Interest rates appear to be set to stay in a lowish band for several years".

Any thoughts on the low inflation comments? Thanks
Robert

Q: This question is about transferring a Canadian stock traded on the TSX that pays dividends in US dollars, like TFII might be doing, to the US dollar side of the trading account and as such, holding the dividends in US dollars rather than the US dollar dividends being translated to Canadian dollars by the broker.

For example, is there a fee or charge to do this transfer? Is there a foreign exchange exchange charge? And when the Canadian stock is to be sold on the TSX, is there a foreign exchange gain or loss?

Any assistance like a link to better understand the ins and outs of this transfer maneuver and the cost implications, if any, would be helpful to me.........Thanks.....Tom
