Q: Hi,
This is a three part question, so take as many credits as you need. I know that when MRVL bought IPHI the deal was 66.00 cash per IPHI share + 2.323 shares of MRVL stock per IPHI stock held - at the time, estimates valued IPHI at around 157.00 per share - is that correct? If yes, then since the announced buyout, shares in both companies have risen. How does this affect the value of the buyout? It appears that due to the increase in share value, the math has improved somewhat - or was the buyout based on a fixed value of either IPHI or MRVL shares at the time of the takeover? The 2nd part of this question is this - if you feel it is best to hold IPHI until the deal is closed, would you continue to hold MRVL shares, buy more or sell them once the takeover is completed? The 3rd part is would you just sell IPHI now, considering they are starting to drop? As always, thanks for your input - much appreciated!

Q: Hello Peter & Team,

I have been watching ASG for some time as from what I read, I felt they had real potential with the innovative devices they invented for minimally-invasive surgery and regenerative medicine for relief of aging back issues. A big market to say the least.

I know they are small right which makes them risky and the medical sector is a very hard nut to crack but, they have seen shares increase in value 53% since Feb 6th and at one point today got to $1.04 before settling back at $0.78.

I read the Feb 9 2021 press release regarding their common shares now trading on the OTCQB Venture Market (the "OTCQB Venture"), a US trading platform that is operated by the OTC Markets Group in New York which will enable US-based investors to seamlessly get involved in Aurora. It appears to me this announcement directly corresponds with the recent gains. Am I naïve in thinking this was a big announcement? Or are my observations valid?

I did notice a 55% increase ($0.25 - $0.45) Dec 11th through Feb 5th which was before this announcement was made. And as of late, trading volume has gone through the roof - close to 338,000 shares with the average volume being just over 47,000.

Am I looking for what I want to see in order to convince myself to pull the trigger on a trade? Or are these facts indeed significant indicators there may be something here to be serious about? Would this be an indication there may be a take over bid being looked at?

If there are any other insights you feel may be valuable, would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for all you do

gm

Q: I fully understand the risks associated with borrowing money to invest and I've been working towards being in a financial position for quite some time (thank you for the great advice over the years) to comfortably initiate a leveraged portfolio. My objective is to create a portfolio that generates a decent income to cover carry costs, have some growth and allow me to sleep at night over the next 5-7 years. What 10 positions would you recommend?

Q: RTA Inception - May 24, 2017 . Active management of 600 M in assets. I am confused on Management Fee of .75% and Managed Expense Ratio of .89%. Is total MER 1.64% ? This investment would be in a managed RRIF account with low risk There would be the advisor’s fee as well. I wanted to clarify the fees and are the returns listed net of fund fees? What do you think of this fund? It is rather new. I understand it is a low/median risk investment. Peter, you and your team are wonderful, your advice clear and easy to understand. I daily read your answers to questions submitted and of course follow your portfolios and reports. Thank you

Q: The utility stocks appear to be moving out of favour. Is this a good time to add, or has their softening only just begun. I realize it's a market-timing question, so maybe the question is better framed as: on the whole, are Canadian utility stocks running below or ahead of their average levels, whether based on FCF, PE, or some other more relevant metric?
Thanks very much...

Q: What are your thoughts on FCX/FM long term (any favourites?) I currently own FCX and ZMT.
Is 5i bullish on copper? If yes, what are your favourite ways to play it for a long-term hold. Are the names above reasonable?

Q: good afternoon,
These 3 companies from the income portfolio offer outsized yields. Also have 5% in Telus. Want to increase my position from 3 to 5 % in BCE. Telecom are out of favor right now but wondering about the future what will weigh more on BCE rising rates or recovery? The goal is to free cash for growth stocks.
Thanks !
