Q: I need in increase my portfolio weightings in Consumer Cyclical and Utilities. I currently hold AQN, BIP.UN and FTS in Utilities in roughly equal amounts and hold QSR and LNF for Consumer Cyclical with QSR double the holding of LNF. Should I add to my current positions to increase my weighting in both sectors or consider adding new stocks?

Q: The National Bank of Canada has recently introduced online trading for $0/stock trades and $1.25/contract for option trades. Their trading platform is free if you do a minimum 15 trades/month. I calculate saving about $350/month if I switch from the TD. Do you see any downside?
Q: What is the latest information on the forward P/E for REAL? It would seem with the price drop REAL must be cheap by now. Let's assume REAL is successful with the onboarding of the tier one client, which they are being quite careful about, and growth continues. Isn't there an opportunity here for new buyers of REAL?
Q: Between DSG and KXS, which stock would you side with and why?

Q: Good Morning,
I would like your opinion on when GSY might be considered an addition to the Balanced portfolio? Is it a matter of sector weighting that would preclude its inclusion? It seems to be a perfect stock for the folio. Growth and a growing dividend.
Sorry for putting the team on the spot!
It’s horrible having made so many prescient selections that subscribers are reduced to questions like this one. Lol

Q: NOVR What is your opinion on this royalty trust. Would you see this as the best way to play copper and nickel appreciation or are there other trusts/companies that you would prefer. Thank for your expertise.
Q: What is your opinion re this company (and the upcoming merger with Telesat)? With the current interest in "space" stocks, an upcoming NASDAQ listing for the combined company and the recent Canadian goverment contract announcement regarding their low orbit satellites it appears to be an interesting opportunity.
Q: Thoughts on auph and good recent momentum.Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter,
With reported earnings and the potential for dividend hikes later this year, what looks better to you now; Cdn Banks or Cdn Insurance Co's ?
Is there any noticable advantage or disadvantage to holding a covered call on a Company etc if/when they raise their dividend ?
Thank you.

Q: GUD's Statement of Cash Flows for the 3 months ended June 30, 2021 shows a 'Purchase of intangible assets' of $217 million, but I could not find an explanation for this significant investment in the MD&A. I would appreciate your comments on this item. Thank you. Edward
Q: I am confused about the 'paired' nature of this stock as it relates to BAM.A. This seems to suggest that if you own BAM.A there is no point in buying or owning BAMR as they are essentially the same stock. Why even list it, then? It doesn't matter how well the company does or doesn't do as its' share price will remain equivalent to BAM.A. Or is this a temporary thing?
Q: Hi
Before I posted this question, I went through CMS archives and searched the questions bank here as well. As I didn't get any "hits" I thought of asking you folks.
I was recently told that establishing a Joint Partner Trust is a good way to go if one
a. wants to avoid probate fee even for the primary residence
b. to shelter probate and other fees for assets held in a private corporation
c. transfer wealth to future generations with certain amount of protection.
d. Arguably the best way to go forward if one's adult kids are in the US (through a Dynasty Trust)
Any thoughts about JPT? Especially for professionals who own a private holding company/corporation. If you think JPT is not the way to go, what would you suggest?
An article is begging to be written in CMS!
Many thanks.
Mano.
