Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Of the above Canadian dividend ETFs, which one do you think has the best diversity and investment strategy for a very long-term hold? CDZ seems to have the highest 3-year return, followed closely by VDY, but the latter ETF seems high on the financial services at 59%; not sure how VDY determines their allocations.
Thanks!

Q: looking at this company I note that the cash position is strong. They are also supposed to be receiving money from the Apple settlement which then would give them roughly $230 million net of debt. this equates to about $2 per share. Seems like there is value here. Can you contribute anything that would poke holes in my thesis that right now might be a good time to buy?
Idle thoughts also have me wondering why Apple wouldn't just buy QTRH to gain access to their other patented technologies. They are already going tp be paying what amounts to about a third of the company value.

Q: Hi 5i,
WDO reported earning today. In your opinion how did they do this time, considering they missed last 7 out of 8 quarters. Have future prospects improved?
Currently down 40% on this one, so based on earnings/forecasts would you continue to hold or move on?
I do have 2- 3 year time frame but have started to lose confidence in this company.
Could you suggest a potential replacement with better prospects in the space?
Thx
Jim

Q: there are often questions about replacing positions in a TFSA by way of transfer outs. but then there is mention that there will be a need to wait until the next year to contribute to the TFSA to replenish for this transfer out.
just want to say, to get around this waiting period, I transfer in cash or security one day for the slightly more than I expect to transfer out and then the following day, transfer out the position and then the following day, make an adjustment for the difference between the the transfer in amount and the transfer out amount.
for me, been doing this for some time, aka years, and all is well.....just a heads up but use you own judgment .....Tom

Q: So working in the finance industry, when it comes to business valuation, I know private health clinics get very low multiples. If Well is continues to consolidate in a space where now one else is and provides technological efficiencies. Even if they are just able to capture the majority of market share in Canada, could the potential upside be the sky?
