Q: I am down 33% BCE and 18% BEPC in my non registered account. Would you sell both for tax loss purposes ? BEPC is suffering from the general negative in green stocks compounded by Trump but I like the company and would repurchase it while BCE would not be repurchased. Thanks. Derek

Q: Retired (70 yrs old), dividend-income investor. Been meaning to ask this question for a long time. We run a concentrated portfolio of roughly 10 ETFs and 10 stocks, plus fixed income on top. Our pro-rated MER for the equity ETFs is 0.64 and for the entire portfolio is 0.38.

I use the ETFs above that are sector ETFs (like HHL, NNRG, XIT) as my proxy for the sector and am ok with the trade off of paying fees for a sector ETF instead of having lots of stocks.

I then add my individual stock selections to achieve my targeted Asset Allocation for the entire portfolio (like AD, BCE, FTS, GSY, RY, NWC, PBH, TRP, WSP, etc). I weight each of these relative to my risk tolerance.

Does this make sense to you? Does my "sector ETF" make sense, especially with a potentially large weighting in one ETF. Virtually all of my ETFs are capped at around 7% of the equity portfolio and the stocks are capped at 5% max.

Your thoughts on my strategy and on my MER....thanks...Steve

Q: I'm curious about companies that have been rather lacklustre but somehow have experienced some catalyst that has allowed them to gain their footing once again and recently started to move up in value considerably. Not worried about size of company nor what sector they are in could you suggest 5 Canadian and 5 American companies that fit the bill.

Q: Hi Peter,

Can you please give your initial take the impact of Willow developed by Alphabet on the stock price of NVDA.
The stock price takes into account the future growth of the company, its market share in the growing AI and Quantum computing marketplace with the expectation the earnings will grow significantly to bring down the P/E ratio.
With Willow coming into the market a few years from now, what is the impact on NVDA's dollar price today; in your view?
Regards
Rajiv

Q: Hello,
I’m not sure if this question is out of scope. However my daughter and son in law are moving from Switzerland to Canada in the new year. They have some questions regarding their investments so I thought I would see if your team can help with answers.
- We have UCITS Irish domiciled ETFs so that we don’t have to pay US withholding tax - are these available in Canada?
- If not, are there any options to invest in for example an S&P 500 ETF (or other US ETFs) without having to pay withholding tax?
- do you have a brokerage account that you recommend? We currently use CornerTrader/CornerBank but they are not present in Canada so we have to switch

Q: I have a gain of US dollars in my TSFA and I would like to withdraw $10000 US dollars before the end of the year. Can I replace the withdrawal in 2025 with $14100 (10000 US dollars times exchange rate 1.41) Canadian dollars?

Thanks for all your professional advice over the year and wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and all the best in 2025.

Dave.

Q: I currently own Bep.un and want to buy BEPC.

1) If I sell BEP.UN for a loss can I replace it with BEPC right away or are they consider same stocks.

2) If they are same stocks and I buy BEPC do I need to average stock price for BEP.UN and BEPC.

3) Which one is more dividend Tax credit benefits.

4) If they are same stocks why BEPC has outperformed BEP.UN.

Thanks for your great service

I wish your team a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Q: Greetings:
I have held the above in my RRIF for quite some time, and under water. The interest is adequate, but eaten up badly by the loss of capital. I thought that as interest came down it would benefit the MIC'S, but not so!! What is the outlook for this one? Under what conditions would it improve? Is it just poor management?

Thanks, BEN.

Q: Hi Guys

Thanks for all the amazing work you do to support us investors. Putting new money to work and looking out on at least a 3 year (tend to be a buy and hold investor) which of the four stocks would you buy today looking at total return? If you could rank them from your most strongest being 1st that would be great.

Thanks

Stuart
