Q: As an owner of both the above companies, I wonder your thoughts of ENGH going after STC via acquisition for the UCaaS software, and spinning off the rest of the hardware and services side?

It's not their style, but I think value could be had for both here. ENGH could use debt to finance it, and use the proceeds of a spinoff to pay down / off debt.

Would a transaction like this make sense? I personally would love to see ENGH make larger buys given their cash generation.
UCaaS seems like a good opportunity to braoden for them.

Just trying to get both of these companies going again....

Q: Hello 5i,

I am not thrilled with QCOM YTD -10%. NVIDIA +70% GOOGLE +64%

Do you think more patience is required or NVIDIA would be just a much better company at this point going forward? I am looking for growth and don't care (great deal) about the dividend (although it is nice to have). I know the valuation risk is different but it was the same risks in January yet the results speak for themselves.

Q: Teck has jumped a bit in the last couple of days, apparently on a suggestion that they would strip out their coal operations or perhaps even split into more parts. Do you see this as a likely outcome and if so, what sort of time line would this play out? I have some shares...would you continue to hold or take advantage of the current increase? Many thanks for your excellent service.

Q: I own well-in-the-money options of CPG that expire Jan'22. I plan to exercise them anyways before then; if I do it immediately will I be eligible for the increased dividend? If I do it this calendar year does this trigger a capital gain, or just need to track ACB?

Q: Hi,
In respect to the question from Brad in regards to small caps, you responded as:

"We have seen some studies showing the group is cheap (relatively) than it has been in 10 years. The 4Q is often good for the sector.

Could you name 3 to 5 small cap stocks that you would recommend?
Thanks,

Q: Many of the Pot companies have been sliding for several months now. Do you think they are getting near a bottom for this sector? I'm looking specifically at CRON, WEED, & MSOS. What is your feeling on these stocks? Do you have a favorite in this field?

thanks,

Paul

Q: I have a non-registered account which is invested in roughly equal weights of 13 Canadian blue chip dividend payers (NTR, RY, BNS, TCL.A, T, BCE, SLF, QSR, ENB, FTS, LNF, BEPC, AQN) and CPD. I am in the process of re-organizing it a bit and have some additional cash to invest.

I have tinkered with SYZ, FSZ and LIF in this account and none of these quite fit the profile I'm going for (steady eddies thru next economic cycle, decent and reliable dividend).

Over the last year or so, I have been tweaking this account to get it to the point where it will be very low (or no) maintenance. Game plan is to drip for another few years, then start to take the dividend in cash to live off. Capital preservation and dividend reliability are obviously key.

Looking for some guidance on choosing 2 or 3 additional holdings from the following list:
EIF (nice div, needed industrial exposure)
AW.UN or ZRE (are these OK in an open account?)
CVD or XHY (some fixed income to smooth out any upcoming lumps) or other fixed income idea.

Do CPD, CVD, XHY make sense now with tapering about to begin in the US?
All comments about this strategy and my stock selections are most welcome.

Several questions here - please take several credits

Thanks in advance,

Jim
