Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Would you consider CNC a good investment given their involvement in senior care and the aging demographics in the US? They also recently acquired Magellan Health which gives them exposure to one of the US biggest behavioural health platforms and are also starting to focus on a pharmacy segment and look to be developing into a fairly diversified company. However they do have significant exposure to Medicaid programs and linkages to the Affordable Care Act but not sure how big a risk to consider that might be? I currently hold CVS which is not perhaps direct competition but appears to be closer to fair value while CNC is still projected to have anywhere from a 16 to 23% discount. Wells Fargo has them overweight with a target of $87. Would you hold CVS, and take a position with CNC as well, or sell CVS and move it to CNC for it's potential upside? Thanks!

Q: I am a fan of Brookfield and own BAM and related stocks. I also ( try to ) follow companies in which BAM has significant holdings. Formerly owning Genworth comes to mind and am presently acquiring SPB. My problem is in determining sources of current BAM holdings.
The annual report doesn’t help much or possibly I am not searching properly. Thanks. Derek

Q: Hi team,
What are your thoughts on this companies latest quater? Their debt level has been reduced, the dividend yield is at 6% ,but the share price keeps sliding from week to week.Seems like a very cheap stock ,but what would be the catalysts for it's share price to appreciate and attract investors? Many thanks,
Jean

Q: There is a consistent discrepancy between what appears as the book value in my Qtrade and RBC account and what appears in my 5iresearch portfolio. I've verified that the share numbers and cost prices are correct. The differences are much higher on my American stocks where the MV is always higher than what shows in my original accounts. Is there an explanation for this?

Q: Hi guys.

Not a question, more a suggestion.
Just read the article on NBLY and found it very comprehensive and informative and I thank you for that.
After reading your article, the name of the company sounded familiar and I checked my email to see where from.
On May 13 I received an email from iTrade letting me know that the issue was coming and they were looking for Indications of Interest.
Please don't take this wrong , but it would have been so nice to have had your write up earlier so we could have taken advantage of the new issue offering.
Of course timing would only be valuable if the IPO comes out at a premium and stays there, but reading your write up it sounds like it will.

Best

Sheldon
