Q: I could use some help with thinking about pot retail opportunities. ATD has bought into FAF, but aside from licensing issues in certain jurisdictions, I don’t see the long term benefit for ATD. I mean why do they need FAF at all? Or is this a testing the waters kind of move for ATD? Do you think adding cannabis to ATD’s corner store offerings has the potential to bump up revenue in a meaningful way? And on the other side, are there any players in the cannabis retail space that look promising? What do they really have to offer that a larger company like ATD could not replicate in a heartbeat? Thanks, and please deduct credits at your discretion.

Q: Dear 5i,
I have a question about MAGT and IPO's in general.
I am have no experience participating in an IPO so I had a few questions.
Can the IPO price vary after one commits to purchasing a set number of shares?
Is the broker commission embedded within the stock price?
When do the shares typically start trading on the normal market?
In the case of MAGT it looks like the IPO shares started trading on the open market
within a day. For small investors do you recommend waiting and purchasing on the open market? Thanks

Q: Any reason why the renewable stocks are so weak in 2021?
For example, BEP.UN dropped almost 14% since 1/01/2021, and most other renewable stocks are similarly depressed YTD. I know this sector was up substantially in 2020. What changed? Market sentiments, or due to some more tangible reasons? Thanks.

Q: As the Canadian dollar strengthens I am curious about the advantages of journaling some of my Canadian stocks to the US side of my account. As an example, there is an obvious benefit to convert CAD cash to USD cash when CAD is at .85 USD vs. when CAD is at .70 USD BUT Is there any benefit to journal say 1000 shares of BNS from Canada to US when the dollar is at .85 vs. when the dollar is at .70?

Q: "President Biden's plan is expected to call for a 39.6% top tax rate on long-term capital gains, up from the current 20%. The tax would apply to returns on assets held more than a year and to taxpayers with more than $1 million in income." If this proposal becomes reality, do you expect an impact on stock markets?
