Q: Happy holidays to all of you guys and girls at 5i thank you for all that you do everyday throughout the year. Just looking ahead to add to one of these 3 etf’s is there any one of these etf’s that should be chosen first before the other 2 or is it worthwhile just adding to all 3? All of these are about the same % of our portfolio and I do need to add more to international exposure (as per portfolio analytics.) Thanks again and wish everyone the best in the new year.

Q: I currently hold these is non-registered account and have had for more than 5 years, so there are gains. My question is: taking a longer term view, should any of these be sold and what options would you suggest in similar segments?
I feel that there could be other options that I am not seeing.
Thanks very much for all you do.

Q: I have the above stocks on my watchlist. They are all coming into the range that you have suggested in the past. Do you think they are buyable at current prices, APP for medium term, the others medium to long term (SOBO long term) which order would you add, and what percentage of the portfolio would you be comfortable with as a starting position? Thanks!

Q: Apologies if I missed this elsewhere on the site, but I was wondering if you produce (or plan to produce) a report outlining tax loss buying opportunities, or alternatively if you'd be able to suggest a few names to look at/keep an eye on?

I'm currently sitting on ~25% cash and looking for growth or income names with a 3-5 year time horizon. I have a fairly balanced equity portfolio, so agnostic when it comes to sector or market cap. Thanks!

Q: Hi 5i,

I have GIC's maturing end of this month and I am not looking to reinvest the funds in another set of GIC's.

Financial advisor at the bank is recommending I put the funds into ZBAL ETF. But this ETF has MER of 1.72% which I am not a fan of.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this ETF and potential alternatives that you could suggest with lower MER.

I have been investing in stocks for the past five years and I am still relatively young so I am ok with risk.

Thanks in advance.

Greg C.

Q: TSLA had a huge move up after three years of flatlining. It just broke through its all time high. Do you think this move is largely related to the market starting to price in future growth from FSD, Robotaxi, energy and Optimus? Do you think these lines of business will start to contribute to revenue in 2025 in a meaningful way? Appreciate your take.

Thanks.

Q: I would like your thought if it make sense to replace BCE with Rogers or Telus at all, or there are better alternatives , even in other sectors. Please suggest a few alternatives if outside of the above. Thank you as always

Q: I've owned TD for over 30 years and am sitting on a large unrealized capital gain. I know this is a great "problem" to have but I resent paying up to 33% tax on any sale now that the feds have upped the tax inclusion rate to 2/3 from 1/2. I took all the risk but lose close to 1/3 of the reward.
Can you suggest any way to mitigate/reduce any tax hit if I were to dump my TD shares?
I hate to say it but I suspect that this issue will only increase (i.e. next step will be 75% inclusion) as the feds look to gouge people to cover their horrific fiscal ineptitude.

Q: Hi Peter & 5i staff

Thanks for answering my recent real estate sector question in which you suggested that Granite could help diversify my sector holdings.

According to a recent Globe and Mail article, would you agree that Granite "will experience tailwinds because it derives most of its revenue from US based assets"? The article focused on how to manage Trump 2.0.

Thanks as always for your timely responses.
