Q: UEX is moving. It was 50 cents not too long ago and in about a month it dropped to 38 cents today. Can you please provide me with the most accurate website depicting the live price for uranium? What do you think about the future of this company and the supply and demand of uranium. You think UEX and uranium spot price will move alot over the summer? Or will it drop quickly over the summer?

Q: I have been holding First Majestic for a while now, and it has performed decently, but not spectacularly, even in comparison to other precious metal producers. I have some concerns with the jurisdictions of its mines (they have significant presence in Mexico, and have only one mine, which has gold, in Nevada, for which I am unsure of its overall contribution to their net profits), and I was wondering if this is an issue that is affecting share price. Also, if jurisdiction is a concern, are there other silver producers that have their mines in more reliable jurisdictions that would be worthy for consideration as replacements for this holding? Would you consider this to be one of the more reliable silver plays available overall, or would you direct your attention elsewhere?

Thanks so much, as always, and I look forward to your reply.

Q: Hi 5i Team - Could you provide an update on the fundamentals of Green Power Motor Company. Also your opinion on its growth prospects and whether now is a good time to start a small position. Are there a couple of other similar companies that might provide better opportunities.

Thank you as always for the excellent service!

Q: Morning 5i,
The company description for SJ says that the utility poles division brings in the most revenue of any division. Where I live there's recently been a substantial amount of new road work - the SW Calgary ring road extension - and for the miles and miles of new road all one can see are miles and miles of metal utility poles, which I assume SJ did not fabricate or supply.
Is SJ's main revenue producing division in danger of quickly becoming obsolete in the market place, and if that's too pessimistic an outlook is it at the least giving up substantial market share to whoever is providing the metal poles? (And who might that be?)
Thanks,
Peter

Q: I am looking at this company for my TFSA ( which is 4% of my total cash/ registered portfolio and used for my more aggressive stocks).
Valuation seems fine , sector is good ( although there are some big boys in this field). Reports indicate that management is quite experienced and this is a major factor for me. Can you provide information on the specific management individuals ? What is your assessment of the company? Thanks . Derek

Q: While checking VGK as an addition to Europe ETFs , I stumbled into FDD " First Trust Stoxx European Select Dividend Index Fund". FDD is not in your data base; I found it on Schwab’s stock research pages. (Incidentally you suggested VE to another member for the Europe region, but I don’t see VE listed anywhere, and I don’t think you would have meant VEA).

FDD sounds like a good ETF for the Euro region. I am biased in favor of ETFs that hold less than a hundred businesses. Is my bias unwise? I would appreciate your opinion on FDD. Between VGK and FDD which one (IF EITHER) would you buy please? If you have another Europe-region ETF that you think might be better, kindly advise. Thank you.

Q: I'm thinking of trying writing a call on positions I own (covered calls). I know I would be putting a limit on my upside in exchange for some income. I'm thinking of trying it on one or two large caps thinking that they have a low chance of a big swing or takeover bid, which means low income of course. Any suggestions or things for to watch for on doing this?
Also I'm wondering the best way to handle the situation if on expiry day that it was in the money. Do I let it expire (and then my shares will be auto sold?) or would it be best to buy the same call options to offset the write?

Q: My investment income has been bumping up against the OAS clawback level the last couple years (damn that dividend gross-up!), so I have moved some investments into reits and ETFs with high return of capital to keep reportable income down. Aside from the obvious - that ROC becomes capital gains when the stock is sold - are there some negatives about ROC or high ROC stocks of which I should be aware?
Thank-you

Q: My daughter is just beginning to develop a portfolio of ETF's as a substitute for a company pension which she doesn't have. She has 20 years of work ahead of her before needing to withdraw funds from her RRSP. Please suggest a diversified portfolio of ETFs that hopefully will increase in value by the time she needs the retirement income.
