Q: Peter,
Based on the share structure is there a danger of CSU draining the profits of TOI by charging exorbitant management fees or royalties etc ?
Thank you,
Paul

Q: Hi 5i
With profitability increasing but growth slowing, would you consider adding at these levels to be sensible or wait for momentum to turn ?
I tend to hold for the long term with minimal selling if that is a factor in your answer.
Thanks
Mike

Q: I hold Canaccord series A 5 year rate reset prefs which will reset in September at 5yr GOC + 3.21%. They also have a voluntary conversion privilege into series B floating rate prefs which pay 3 month GOC T-Bill + the same 3.21%. With the likelihood that interest rates are likely to go up from here, would you agree that it makes sense to opt for the conversion? The series A prefs have been on a tear over the past 9 months from a low near $12 to their current price close to $19. Is it likely that a large driver of the price increase is related to excitement over the upcoming conversion privilege?
Q: Your opinion of the recent moves by Surge please. Buy, sell or hold at the moment?
Q: A couple questions on ZST. Deduct credits as needed.
Assuming this etf is held in a taxable account but the payout is taken in cash and not reinvested, will it make for a headache at tax time?Would HSAV be a better place to park cash in a taxable account?
It looks like every time this etf pays a distribution the price drops so even though the current yield is 2.17%, in reality you're only getting ~.5% return. Do I have this correct?
Thanks

Q: I am puzzled, on July 9th, was it a split or a consolidation at 4 - 1? from the chart, the stock went from $10 to $40 on that date. How do you get 4 times as much stock while at the same time the stock appreciates 400%. What am I missing since I also believe that on the whole the market is efficient. Thank you, Martin
Q: Bought MG about two months ago and down 15%. I suspect in part it's due to the global chip shortage. If this is indeed the case, I am not reassured by NVDA's recent comment that they anticipate the chip shortage to last through to the end of 2022. To what do you attribute the decline...and when - and why - would you anticipate a turnaround? Is MG a buy, sell or hold? Thank you.
Q: can you compare eif and fsz for diversity and long term income. are there any other that you would suggest
Q: How does a company repurchasing it's own shares, protect against the action assisting a potential takeover ?
- Inter Pipeline Ltd. (IPL)
- Brookfield Infrastructure Corporation Class A Exchangeable Subordinate Voting Shares (BIPC)
Q: What is the strategic value of BIPC acquiring IPL? Most pipelines have under performed (stock price performance) the past 5 years. Oil is not a growth industry. Why not buy a renewable energy name like NPI instead? Also, how significant is the deal relative to its entire portfolio? Is there anyway to get a % revenue/earnings breakdown of the industries BIPC is involved with?
- Knight Therapeutics Inc. (GUD)
- Enthusiast Gaming Holdings Inc. (EGLX)
- Digital Turbine Inc. (APPS)
- Nuvei Corporation Subordinate Voting Shares (NVEI)
- Topicus.com Inc. (TOI)
Q: Assuming you could keep track of N companies, would it not make sense to own as many as possible if business fundamentals are good, the price is reasonable, and you have the funds? This is compared to trying to select which specific company to add to or purchase from a basket of options. My understanding is that often a few really great companies can end up carrying your portfolio and make up for the losers (I believe this was from Peter Lynch's book). The reason I'm asking is because I look at more volatile growth stocks like APPS, AT, NVEI, EGLX, TOI and GUD , and keep asking myself that question. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Q: We have done very well with Apple in an RRSP account. So much so that it has grown to represent 15% of the portfolio. While I do believe Appl can still grow in value I think it would be prudent to sell some for diversification purposes. Can you suggest a good US company to buy? We also hold Disney in this account.
Q: Hello 5i friends - Thought this might be a good holding for using Canadian dollars to invest in semi's valued in US dollars as a portfolio currency diversifier. The subscription is small at this time but this is a new ETF. First, do you like the holdings and their weightings, would you expect this ETF to attract investment over the next year or so in order to satisfy your standards for a sufficient level of investment, do you have any comment regarding the MER and finally other than the low current investment level do you have any cautions to offer. Many thanks for your input. Ken
Q: Your thoughts on SPGI
Q: Endo Pharma tanked on Friday (down one-third) after announcing the hiring of a Restructuring Advisor. Do you think they will survive?
Of course, this revives the "will Knight ger Paladin" question.
I have always thought Endo would never sell to Knight because they would be embarrassed after paying so much for the company to Goodman and Co...
I guess it's now if ever...

Q: Presently have a 2% position in WELL. Your thoughts on trading for ECN for growth. No taxes payable with this transaction.
Thanks. Peter
Thanks. Peter
Q: Hi, we have a small <1% holding in Well Health. Stock does not seem to gain traction over $7-$8 level, despite great news time to time, over past 2 years. I know, you have a lot of conviction in the company, based on the CEO's past record. Even the last news of their majority share holder and HK business tycoon, snapping company's shares @ $9.50, during a private placement. My question is that is the stock worth holding due to its growth potential ( despite not so impressive price movement ) and if so, do you believe, it could reach $9-$10 in next 1-2 years. Or, we should be patient, expecting a buyer, at some point in the future.
Thank You
