Q: Another factor for VALE is that they just went x-div on a very large dividend (~US$1.50) that is being paid out tomorrow. So things aren't as bad as it appears for shareholders!
Q: Hello 5i Team,
I would like to expand my utilities exposure (beyond the positions I already hold in Emera and Fortis). I am considering taking a position in either Canadian Utilities or Capital Power. Both have similar yields and dividend growth over the past 5 years. Which of the two would you favour, and why? This is for a long-term income focused account.
Many thanks,
Brian
Q: Am looking at Magna for my TFSA with a 2 year rebound focus. The chip shortage seems to be depressing the stock ; would a 2 year period to fix the shortage seem reasonable ? It looks like a battle is looming to acquire Veoneer and the stock has been hitting lower highs over the last 6 months. Would you wait and see how the takeover ends, see some turnaround in the chip market ? In essence, buy now or wait until some clarity on these issues ? Thanks . Derek
Q: I once read that the correlation between the price of gold and inflation is only about 60%; i.e., not very strong. Do you have any data to show otherwise?
Q: I recently sold my shares in RDFN for a small loss as it has not be doing much. I have been looking for a new real estate position in my TFSA to replace RDFN. I have noticed more questions recently about EXPI. Can you describe why you like this company? Would it be one of your top picks in real estate US stocks? If not, what are your ranked top 5 in order? I see EXPI is down 13% today as of writing this question (no news that I can find) and wondering what you might see as a favorable entry point. I am ok with volatility and am looking for long-term growth in my TFSA.
I own SCR in my TFSA account and pleased with the recent acquisition announcement. However, I am not sure if I will receive Penn shares or Exchangeco shares when the deal finally closes.
I am assuming I would receive Penn shares as tax is not a consideration while holding this security in my TFSA. Is this a correct assumption?
Also, would I have to make an election prior to the upcoming special meeting on October 12th or would 'no action' allow the process to unfold as recommended and I end up with cash and Penn shares in my TFSA.
Q: There are 101 experts out there from the U.S. giving advice wanting you to subscribe to their products so you can make millions - but the only one I take time to read is Seeking Alpha. A commentator Paulo Santos from Seeking Alpha is very bearish on NVDA. The Ethereum 2.0 Merge, set for early 2022, will create a sudden destruction of demand for GPUs which will likely be felt by Nvidia. I spend a lot of time trying to unsubscribe to many of these unsolicited emails about these financial products but have been unsuccessful with respect to many.
Q: All 3 are down today (Wednesday) when market is up. LSPD down a lot, no longer muted. Can you comment more on what's happening to LSPD and what outlook holds? Any adjustment in your opinion? As for SHOP, it's been flat to down for a while now. Any reason why? What is the compelling story behind it? Would you buy it now?
Q: I am consolidating some holdings in my RRSP. I am thinking of selling 2 holdings to buy the other that has the most potential growth in the next 5-10 years. Which one of these 3 do you think has the most potential growth in the next 5-10 years? I am 35 years old so I am in no rush to use the money.
Q: Can you please give me your opinion on how you would rank these three companies and include some comments
on which you feel are at the best discount to NAV and would likely have better growth over the next 3 to 5 years along with any other pertinent information you feel is relevant.
Q: I read the LSPD short report.
i thought spruce point made some valid points.
i sold all my lspd yesterday, will revisit at a later date.
my question is have you read the whole report and do you agree with some of the points or not.

Q: Peter; When the merger is done- or even before as there are no barriers to it - would not the combined entity become then the ” go to” gold stock for institutions and ETF’s - and drive the price ? Thanks.Rod
Q: There seems to be a consensus that energy companies will enjoy a resurgence for the foreseeable future. Two part question : do you concur? Secondly, if you do, would you recommend an ETF [?] to track the industry or any individual co's. I presently own Suncor and Cenovus.
Thanks
Q: There is enough negative news on LSPD that crashed its share price by a short seller spreading fear this morning and then an ambulance chaser type of law firm did a pile on later.
Has the company issue anything yet? If there is no rebuttal from LSPD by tomorrow morning I would be very concerned. Usually the quicker the response from the company the better the assurance for investors. What is your view on this situation? Thanks.
