Q: These debentures are being called. If it's the intent to convert to the common shares, is it better to sell the debentures and buy the common shares. If held until Sep 9, the company converting to shares at 95% on the 20 day avg sounds like ending up with less common shares. Which way would work best?

Q: I've just started to look into GUD and I'm trying to understand why the shares have been trading down since 2017. From what I can see, earnings and revenue have been climbing, they've beaten EPS estimates the last 5 quarters, insiders are buying, the company is buying back shares, management has a good track record....what is the bull thesis or what am I missing?
Q: Hi,
I was looking at taking a position in UCTT.(Ultra Clean)
I believe the earnings were fine with a beat on both revenue and EPS including raised guidance,
The stock is trading at $41.31 currently. Looking at some of its financial metrics & estimates , this stock is trading at 1x NTM revenue. I would consider this stock extremely cheap currently.
Would you agree with my understanding and is there anything else you could add?
Thanks

Q: Further to my Aug. 18 question, you replied net income for the quarter was $2.1 B and all numbers in the billions. Understandable since if you read the bottom part of their news release it presents the numbers but fails to change an earlier heading, what I'm taking as a typo. CEO states in the body "Net income of $2 million and $5 million for the three and six months ended were higher than the comparative periods due to..."
So it's $2 million vs a $1 million loss last year. I know it's unaudited, but do you ever see this kind of error? Link: https://www.5iresearch.ca/company/tsx/BAMR
Is the reason you selected TSU over BAMR for the growth portfolio simply because the latter is new?

Q: Can I please get your opinion on the decline of the stock price of Wishpond? Is this a result of the weak market space? Seems to me like they are on target for growth but the market is responding poorly. It feels similar to MRS who reported strong results.

Q: The genome space seems to have taken a hit and I'd like to add some to my portfolio. Can you give me 3 to 5 Canadian or US stocks going forward that you believe have the highest potential of gains( I realise this would also be subject to the most risk) for a 5 plus year hold.
Also 3 to 5 stocks from Canada or US that you feel should be held for long term exposure.
Thank you.

Q: In terms of starting and building out a large position in a new stock, how do you proceed? As a professional portfolio manager, is there a certain method or strategy you followed? What metrics did you look at in making your decision? Split the purchase into 2-4 chunks? I know its probably more of an art than an exact science but could you shed some insight into how you did it? For example, if I wanted to build a 3% position or had $50k allocated to MAGT, how would you scale in after its had its recent run. Thanks for your insight!
Q: Good morning, I noted your recent response re. Canadian tech stocks, where you were asked to rate the quality of some of the leading Canadian stocks. I hold KXS (up approx. 200%) and OTEX (up 100%) in my TFSA. I also hold some of the other top choices but I do not hold MAGT or NVEI and only a small amount of TOI. Based on your ratings, I'm wondering if I should sell KXS and OTEX and use the proceeds to buy the other 3?
Q: Hello!
The YTD chart is dispiriting and Martello is now on the cusp of being a penny stock.
Is there any new information about the company or the sector? Any change in your assessment?
Thanks and kind regards,
Marc.

So I am a slow learner and a bad listener.....in order to add AND to my health care basket, Chartwell is gone.......I did not feel like adding $ for $ so have some of CSH proceeds left to top up a position or 2 in my basket....Please list 1, 2 ,3 in priority of your preferences above and if you see any you would not advise be kept, please say so and why.
Thanks for all you do
Dennis

Q: When looking at growth vs value or tech vs more cyclical stocks, we have seen stocks like GH go from $181 to 99, Coupa from $377 to 208 or Acuity Ads go from $26 to $8 while the DOW hits all time highs. My question is what do you expect would happen to this type of small, growth company when a correction comes? Have they been punished enough that they are buffered or even so an inflow of capital in a rotation or would they likely be punished even more severely due to (still) high valuations? As a part 2 to this question, what would be your five favourite growth stocks that have been beaten up and would you start positions in them today or wait for further declines?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Q: NPI has recently stumbled but is still likely a takeover candidate while BEP.un is a great all-around company. For new $, would you choose one over the other or a bit of both? Thanks!
