Q: I've been buying companies according to the funds I have in accounts and it has led to the situation where I have shares of one company in each account.

I would like to combine the shares in order to tracking them more easily.

I am hoping to, for example, shift my RRSP shares in Teledoc to combine with my TFSA shares in Teledoc and then, to balance it, move an equal value of shares in, say XSB, from the TFSA to the RRSP.

I am also trying to move my higher growth stocks into the TFSA this way, as the example (hopefully!) suggests.

Is there any tax implication I should be mindful of in doing this? I realize that withdrawing anything from an RRSP is taxable, but would depositing an equal amount counterbalance that?

Thanks!

Q: Hello, I bought ABST around March this year when it was around $18.35. Now it is down around 23%. I am considering selling it, and taking the loss. Then transfer the money to a US trading account and putting the money into either UPST or SOFI. I am thinking these have better growth potential over. Do you concur? Which between UPST or SOFI has the most upside?

Q: I have this for a number of years, and think to drop it, as its market performance has been poor. What is your opinion on it. Looking to replace it in a tfsa with any of your recommendations for growth, sector does not matter in view of overall portfolio.
thank you for your excellent services.

Q: hello 5i:
We've been looking at adding one of these two to our health care sector, but if I have it right (please comment), AND is as much transportation (Industrial) as it is Health Care, and NBLY is as much Consumer Discretionary as it is health care. Am I correct and which one do you see as having more upside?
thanks

Q: I notice CELH has been up and down between $87 and $97 over the past month. Anything causing this? The Entertainer from CNBC was very high on Netflix and Tesla. Netflix's stock dropped on a good earnings report I think because people had bid it up prior to the earnings report. Your opinion is needed before making a final decision on either one. Thank you.

Q: Please correct me if I've missed something but it appears that there are only gold focused metals/mining stocks in the materials category of any of the three 5i portfolios. Could you explain why you have no other metals covered and if you expect that to change in the next short while.
Many thanks.

Q: Good morning,

Some information for James I think. I have had a LIRA with BMO Investorline since 2011. I have a pretty much 50/50 split with Canadian stocks and US stocks. I do the conversion once and then the cash stays in that currency. If I sell a US stock I settle in US dollars, If I sell a cdn stock I settle in CAD dollars. The dividends all get collected in the appropriate currency as well. For example Starbucks pays me in US cash and Altagas pays me in CAD dollars.

Hopefully this helps

Jimmy

Q: In response to Justin’s question about the short leash for XBC I wonder if you could comment on my rationale for holding onto this stock despite also being down about 50%. I agree with 5i’s principle of the longview of 3-5 years for growth stocks if no material change presents itself. As for XBC I remain positive for the following reasons: it seems much of the difficulty is COVID related, the board has taken concrete positive steps to rectify weakness, the business model has diversified significantly, the sector is just getting started and there should be years of tailwinds. In following your advice to invest for the long haul in growth, not get emotional about the volatility that presents itself in this space and the feeling that markets in Canada tend to overreact to news much more so than in the US, could you make the case for those like me that would like reassurance that XBC remains a viable position to hold based on valuation and potential.
