Q: What do you consider a poor, ok, good, and very good return (ranges please) for a diversified portfolio over a 5-10 year period? I want to understand the comparative performance of my portfolios, which I have been holding for 7-12 years now. My portfolios are not similar.

Q: I bought this as a diversifier in my RRSP a while back. This morning, I noticed it was down 11% yesterday. I checked the top 5 holdings; they were flattish to slightly up over the last 1 and 5 days.

Q: Hello Peter and team,
Can you please provide explanations of how these etfs work in terms of hedge and unhedged. XSP tracks the 500 US index but it is hedged to the canadian dollar. Does this mean that if the Canadian dollar goes up, there will be no impact currency wise. Tech.B tracks the 6 large tech companies but it is unhedged. What does that mean in relation to the tech etf which tracks same stocks but it is neither hedged or unhedged as the tech.b is doing better lately? Much appreciated, and thank you.

Q: With proceeds from a recently matured GIC that paid 3% I am thinking about buying 5 Canadian dividend stocks with a current yield focus and that as a mini portfolio gives me the best chance to get my capital back in 5ish years. In effect creating my own market linked GIC that I get income from, not my bank for guaranteeing the capital on a specific day 5 years hence
Categories and top contenders in each to buy today are;
Bank - BNS
Lifeco - SLF
Utility - FTS
Telco - T
Pipeline - ENB
What do you think of the strategy? What would be your top choices today in each category?

Q: Which Cdn or U.S. stocks have seen a recent sell-off that is overdone in your opinion and positions them for a significant rebound in 2022?

Q: Hi 5i Team,
I am looking to invest approx. $6k in my TFSA and approx. $28K in my RRSP for Jan/Feb of 2022. My potential stock picks for each account are:
TFSA - AT, TOI, CJT
RRSP - T, BEP.UN, BAMR, SJ
I am leaning more towards T & BEP.UN for my RRSP since I do not have much exposure to Utilities in my overall portfolio exposure (Tip my hat to your Potfolio Tracking for pointing that out!)
I am leaning towards adding to AT (I already own a significant amount of shares but I am extremely tempted by the current stock price) or CJT since I believe the potential ecommerce headwinds for the company will be significant over the next few years.
If you could rank or provide your thoughts on these companies in this current (depressing) market environment it would be of great help. If you have better candidates to look at that would also be welcome. Plan to hold for 5 to 10yrs.
I am new to this service but just wanted to say that I have been very impressed with 5i so far. I appreciate all the work you do for DIY investors and wish you and your staff a Merry Christmas and a better new year.
Thank you in advance.

Q: Hello Peter,
I am leaning towards going all in with my borrowed chips for swing trades. This would be separate from my long term holdings. I would appreciate your opinion please.
Towards that objective, I have short listed the following:
AMAT, TER, ATVI, GNRC, COF, MS, BAC, LSPD, AFRM.
I think diversification does not matter for swing trades and, understanding that this is a crap shoot could you please suggest approx. 5-6 stocks, either from this list or others that you would suggest.
Regards
Rajiv

Q: Hi 5i
Regarding your answer to my previous question regarding BMO deal to buy Bank of the West, it was not clear if you would be buyers of BMO at the current price or better to wait. Share price continues its slide this morning.
If better to wait, then at what price would you be interested.
Thx
Jim

Q: What do you think of the acquisition of bank of the west ? Will the market eventually give BMO a premium valuation similar to TD that also has a large US presence?

Q: I would like to get your opinion of Lundin's recent acquisition of Josemaria Resources in Argentina. The market sure doesn't like the deal, at least for today. Do you think the sell-off is a good opportunity to establish a position in Lundin given the company's strong fundamentals or would you wait awhile to let the market digest the news?
Thanks and Merry Christmas to the entire 5i office.

Q: Hello, Kinaxis is down by about 25% from a month ago. Is there someting new to worry about (lawsuit)? Is it because of a short attack or/and tax loss selling? Thank you

In regard to Clayton‘s question this morning on your profile page there is a bar chart that shows institutional buying and selling, how often is that updated?
Would you give that chart any consideration when buying or selling a stock
