Q: SHOP has been drifting down quite a bit and seems to have no traction at all for the past couple of weeks. Realize it's a volatile stock. However, is there anything to be concerned about? Any news making the rounds that might explain recent performance? Do you still consider it one of the better long term investments for growth?
Q: In my TFSA, I’m holding ATZ,CSU,GSY,TOI and LSPD. I’d like to split this year's $6000.00 allotment in January between two of these 5 stocks. At this time considering a 3-5 year hold, what would you suggest and why? Thanks and btw, it’s because of 5i that I’ve been able to achieve an 85 per cent return in my TFSA. The advice and info I glean from the questions, portfolios and reports are invaluable. Keep up the great work on our behalf. Best investment I’ve ever made is joining 5i.
Q: Looking at historic gold/silver charts after economic shocks it seems gold/silver spikes are quite possible in the next few years. Which few companies would you pick to play that possibility?
Q: hey guys hope all is well there has been a fair amount of insider action just wondering if its ok for a small position over 3 yrs or is buying on insider trading is a good idea thx as always
Q: Looking for guidance for 2022 TFSA contribution in my wife’s account.
Have partial positions in both of the above companies and was going to top both of them up however both have been very volatile and want your opinion if they represent good value here and prospects remain good going forward.
I am specifically concerned about GOOS given how much it has fluctuated this past year.
Q: In a TFSA, I have ERF, LSPD, LSPK, NVEI, WELL. IN 2022 can add another $6,000 to TFSA. If you were going to add to existing holdings in what order would you add. If instead, you were going to add a new stock to the TFSA, what would you add?
Q: With reference to Peter’s article entitled Five Investment Themes To Keep An Eye On In 2022, what 2 or 3 stocks would you recommend in the travel & leisure sector & the gold sector? Thanks … Cal
Q: ABBV has had a good run recently. So good that it is now trading at a PE of approx. 32 from what I see. I see revenue has been consistently climbing, and P/CF appears to be a bit lower than it's historical numbers. However, according to Morningstar it I see that it is trading at approx. 1.2 above fair value - historically high for ABBV.
What are your thoughts on this stock? Will the revenue drop a year or two once the Humira patent cliff is hit? I'm assuming this may all be priced in. Just wondering if in your opinion the valuation has become stretched, or can be justified.
Q: Hi team,
I was looking for your best bets for my 2022 tfsa contribution. I was leaning towards either Bam, Toi, or Lspd. What are your thoughts? Or do you have a better choice or 2 out there? I have a long term investment horizon 10yrs plus; and have no issue holding so long as the story in the name doesn’t turn negative . Thanks and happy new year !
Shane
Q: I paid a lot more attention to my investment approach this year, and obviously used your service to make a lot of my decisions, slowing trying to align with the recommendations of your portfolio analysis. I currently hold 25 different stocks.
Looking back at 2021 my overall investment return was 21.41%, slightly lower than the TSX Composite Index of return of 21.74%.
I'm not unhappy with that return, obviously, but I'm wondering given my level of success if I should be simplifying my life and just moving to a few ETFs to cover appropriate geography/industries and forget about it.
This is probably a hard question for you to answer but you might have some insight.
Q: Is this a good price to buy at today? What is your view on the Multi-year deal with google. How do you feel this will impact future growth and profitability. Day of the announcement saw an early morning +10% , only to erode by end of day. Reason for such impact?
Q: For my unregistered account I am looking for your top 5 dividend stocks in Canada and 5 top US dividend stocks if purchased today. Understand that US stocks will be subject to withholding but expect the growth to compensate. Thank you and Happy New Year.
Q: Hello, recently Eric Nuttal called PXT a value trap and a chronic underperformer, and he previously owned the company. He also stated that mgmt is giving mixed messaging and needs to increase the div, do a special div, and increase buybacks. On paper I thought PXT was doing everything right. The amount of shares they have bought back and just confirmed again for 2022 is amazing. Yet year after year it doesn't get the valuation increase it deserves. As Eric says "the market does not care about PXT and there are no big buyers", despite of it having the best balance sheet and buybacks in Canadian o&g. Yes its up last year, but considerably lower than its peers, so there is the opportunity cost. My question is, do we often see companies buying back shares, great balance sheet, and doing most things right yet they never receive the valuation they should or is it a case of you need to be patient, maybe even for years to see the market eventually reward it.
Q: Hello, Just came across this ETF and it looks like an intriguing way of investing in the EV and battery ecosystem. I note it is off its highs and wondering what you thought of this ETF. Thank you as always and Happy New Year.
