Q: I own three major Canadian Telecom stocks, BCE, Telus and Rogers. They all have done poorly in the Y 2024. I have all three for some time, they all are negative with BCE and Rogers losing more than Telus. BCE and Telus are paying good dividend. I also own AQN which is losing money and paying decent dividend. Should I take loss on these and move? I do not have need for cash. What are their chances of turn around? How safe is dividend for all three? If I decide to take a loss, which ones to keep?
I also own BEPC and BIPC, if I want to keep only one of them which one has better potential? If I decide to sell both of them, what would you suggest to replace them with? I do own other utilities: EMA, ENB, FTS, TRP and PPL.

Q: Happy New Year to 5i and members, wishing all a prosperous investing year ahead.

It's time to make my annual TFSA contribution. I own AAPL, ADBE CRM, GOOG, NVDA, PYPL, QCOM, and TOL in my TFSA.

I would like to add to one position, which do you recommend? I am overweight NVDA so do not wish to add to that one.

Does 5i consider any of these positions in the 'do not need to own' category? If so, please recommend a replacement (not LLY, MDT, IBM, or MSFT; I own full positions of these in another account). The focus of this account is US equities with a risk profile somewhere between that of the 5i Balanced and Growth portfolios, and the objective is long-term capital appreciation.

Thank you very much.

Q: Merry Christmas! I wish you all the best and a very prosperous year ahead.

With the latest canadian data and of course added political turmoil here. And rates abroad and our neighbors.

It would appear gold will have room to run still. If you do agree I'd like to know.

I'm looking at adding that exposure as I have none with the recent pull back.

My favorite candidates are AEM, WPM.
Would you please provide a reasonable buy range and if anyone is ranked above them in your mind, please mention.

Thank you very much.

Q: Happy New Year Peter and Colleagues.

I want to set aside a small percentage of my TFSA for more speculative and less serious investments. With that in mind, could you please provide a few of your best guesses for stocks with quick growth potential? I understand that these will be higher risk but have a chance of outsized growth.
Thanks.

Q: Happy new year 5I! (this question is not urgent),

Given how far the Canadian dollar has fallen, in an RRSP is there any merit to switching a VIG to VGH if one thinks the CAD will bottom soon and then slowly work its way up by 9-10% in value over the coming years?

Thank you for all your insight in 2024!

Q: Hi 5i Team,

I am pondering selling some positions in my cash account and buy a few USD income producing investments. Could you please give me your opinions and analysis of OBDC and OCSL given the current interest rate and macro outlook?

SCHD is an EFT I have heard a lot about and looks like a quality holding in an income focused portfolio. Are there any other U.S. ETFs with a similar yield that you would recommend as an alternative or addition to SCHD?

Finally what are the tax implications for a Canadian holding these investments in a non-registered account?

Thanks for the Great Service and Happy Holidays!

Colin
