Q: What are your top 3 picks in the Canadian small cap oil and gas sector? Best balance of growth and safety.

Q: I have these 2 in a TFSA, where the goal is to maximize growth. Do you see either as still having good growth ahead or are there other equities with more potential. If you still like the 2, which would you want your investment to go? FYI, currently about GSY @2.5.% weight and TFII @ 3.5%. Many thanks for your excellent service.

Q: Hi 5i a question relating to a members comment, Scott Jan 12, regarding the transfer of US listed ENB to the CDN side. I occasionally use Norbert's Gambit with DLR and had not thought of using a dual listings. Is there any reason the transaction with ENB differs from DLR to transfer currency?

Q: Just a comment on your advice to Francesco.....if he is looking to deploy the US dollars from his recent trade and is interested in ENB, he would be best to purchase the ENB shares on the US side with the US dollars he has, then transfer the shares to the CND side. This way he avoids all fx charges on the dividend as well as on the trade.
Cheers
Scott

Q: Hi Team,
In regards to SQ, even though this is a fintech company grouped in with the Tech Wreck, is it not also a play on a re-opening economy to an extent? All the little shops it serves should thrive in a post pandemic boom, meaning good business environment for SQ would it not? With SQ back to 2020 levels and cut in half this year this seems like a compelling buy of a blue chip name to me, especially if Tech gains some ground. Can you either confirm or correct my thoughts on this please?
On a seperate note; the nasdaq popped again today after Powell spoke today, after initially falling some. Is it just me or does it seem we are starting to bounce off bottom here with the nasdaq? Thanks for your insight.

Shane.

Q: Hello. I have the above stocks in my TFSA and I have 6000.00 to add. Can you suggest any other stocks to add to this list or should I just add to the existing list? I have a 5-10 year time frame and I'm retired.

Thanks so much,
Louise

Q: Good morning,

I just sold a US stock in my Non Registered US$ account that was paying dividends in US $ and was subject to a withholding tax.

I'm now considering the purchase of ENB for a solid and good dividend and would appreciate your thoughts on the following:

Q1. Is there any advantage of purchasing ENB in my Can$ Non Registered account over purchasing ENB in my US$ Non Registered account.

Q2. If I buy ENB in my US$ Non Registered account, on the US stock exchange, would ENB:US dividends be taxed as income and subject to a withholding tax?

I thank you and look forward to hearing your sage advice.

Q: Peter and Team. Happy New Year to you all. In December I engaged in some tax loss selling to lower my previous taxable gains on the above noted stocks. The 30 days has passed and I now plan to repurchase some of them to hold for 2 years or so. Can you please rank which of these you consider are the best to re-purchase in my non registered account. Are there any in this list which you suggest I should forgot about. Thanks for your great advise.

Q: Is the Buffett Indicator of any value today. Meaning if it goes above 180% should you rethink your momentum stocks and reduce margin? Buffett indicates that above 200% is dangerous and 120% is now normal. Have these numbers been adjusted in recent years due to quantitative easing and now that the feds have reduced quantitative easing should they be tightened? What do you feel the new normal range is with the feds hawkish change? I know timing the market is never good, but I think reducing margin and removing the gasoline at times should be considered.

Q: Hi Peter and 5i Team
I have held QSR in a RIF and am considering replacing it with KEG or AW. Both have more attractive dividends and seem to be performing better in the present environment. Could you rank in order of preference based on present valuation and future returns. Thanks for all you do.
