Q: Looking at the recent weakness in the growth stocks above, my first question is whether you'd begin considering initiating positions in them, my second is how would you rank them and my last is why you would choose that order. Thanks in advance!

Q: Hello 5i Team,
In the past month alone NFI has received contracts for almost 600 buses (hybrid/electric) according to the headlines on seeking alpha. Do these contracts actually translate into bus sales?

What is keeping this company down over years? Is it that the dept is to high for the market or that the acquisitions simply have not panned out?

Thank You,
Andrew

Q: Hi team

slf has reported decent earnings, but like other insurance co, has pulled back in price
recently, despite impending interest rates increase which will favor both banks and insurance companies , is there any fundamental reasons for the pull back in price?
is it a good chance to add on to the holdings with the aim of some income and slow appreciation of capital (medium to low risks)
thanks
Michael

Q: 2 Questions related to Canadian stocks paying dividends in USD:
(1) I want more US cash and plan to have Questrade journal over the above CA stocks to the US equivalent in a TFSA. Is there any special considerations here when doing this? Best to do this on a day when the Canadian dollar is stronger?
(2) In a margin account, Questrade journaled over AQN:CA to AQN:US on February 3/22. I have held AQN:CA for more than 1 year and sold all of AQN:US today at a small loss. Will CRA see the later loss as a superficial loss, because the US listed stock was held for less than 30 days? Thanks!

Q: Hello 5i, could you please comment on SPB earnings and and potential and whether you feel today's early drop is a buying opportumity for the income portion of a portfolio.

Also, in general , how closely do you feel , relatated to overall Energy Sector perfomance will SPB move over the next few years, Is their acquisition / growth strategy still intact ?

thanks/art

Q: Hello 5i, so much doom and gloom and grumpy people, I get it haha but be mad at yourselves not 5i!!

I could have sold Roku Shop and LSPD at all time highs but I also owned them before COVID and topped up near covid lows so not selling on the way up to all time highs in 2021 worked quite well but being greedy and anchored to certain prices did not end well :)

Thanks for all your wisdom over the years I sure wish I listened the many times you stressed keeping weightings at a reasonable level as much as you like a stock I shall try to heed that more often.

Let’s look at this positively if anyone has 5 plus years or more investing how can you not be excited to pick some possibly massive winners for the future. It’s like March 2020 opportunities but some look better and could be even more exciting when things settle down long term.

If you had to pick 5 growth stocks that you could own for the next 5 years the goal of course is capital appreciation and I’m not asking you to pick and purchase the stock today but if you had to pick the stocks today but had the next 12 months to purchase at any pace you want what 5 stocks would choose? Canadian or American sector doesn’t matter nor does risk.

Q: We know uncertainty helps the markets drop. With Russia saying they are drawing back troops and NATO and USA say they are building up, one could anticipate uncertainty ahead. With this in mind, is there any advice for which type of stock might be the best to buy on a future dip?

Q: hello 5i:
We're looking for a decent income stock and are considering EIF. We already own about a 1.5% position in AC. Are the companies businesses too similar in that they are both tied to the airline business or is there sufficient difference to own both? And what are your thoughts on the present valuation of EIF?
thanks

Q: Greetings. In 2021, I took a small tax hit, to shift my "UN" stocks to my TFSA from my non registered... ostensibly to simplify my taxes. Just wondering if, going forward, you folks have heard whether HHL will lose their straight dividend status - or has it already? Thanks.

Q: For a mutual fund, do you think the CIBC balance index fund managed by Jacques Prevost is a good overall fund for a conservative investor? Reported returns of 6.7% for 5 and 10 years. Mer of 1.22%. I noted 25% allocation to financials. It’s in my wife portfolio and she was looking for advice. Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you!
