Q: Hi,
Given the recent great earnings report from Alphabet and their announcement of a 20:1 stock split, do you think it is a good time to start a position in GOOG? Or would you wait it out for a while, as there is likely more downside for growth stocks? Fundamentally it would seem to be an easy choice for a buy and hold long term, but from a more technical perspective, I am wondering if this is a buying opportunity, or more of a wait and see?
Thanks for all your valuable insight!

Q: I am contributing to my RRSP. I have a maxed out TFSA and also have a non-registered account. I am trying to stay fairly diversified in terms of sector. (and am happy with that mix currently). What I would like to do, is focus on the US in my RRSP for tax considerations. My US exposure is currently low.
Questions: Can you suggest some ETFS or Index Funds that take advantage of the tax situation and are favourably priced right now? Should I contribute to the RRSP in $Can or $US? Is there an advantage to either? 5-10 year time frame.

Thank you for your great service!

Q: Hello Peter and staff,
What are the PE ratios for all four companies? Would you consider PE for BCE and Telus to be on the high side? Also, any idea why ATA is not participating in the rally given good numbers, and do you think investors are waiting for next earnings from Nuvei as the stock is stuck where the short sellers pushed it to.. Thanks very much.

Q: PKI's recent poor performance is well-documented but am I interested in a deeper dive as to why. Should its fortunes not have improved with the rise in oil prices? Or is the sky high price of fuel at the pumps resulting in lower volumes and thus decreased traffic in its high margin stores? Or is it something else? I have been a long term owner but my patience is just about exhausted and I am skeptical at best about the M & M acquisition.

Thanks for your views.

Q: Further to the comments about the annoying super long questions: 5i, please consider using the Twitter format and limit the number of characters we can use in our questions. This will force us members to keep it sweet and short. 280 is plenty. Thanks

Q: Hello Peter and staff,
What are the PE ratios for both companies and what are the payout ratios for the dividends Is there site to help us calculate the payout ratios? Also, do both companies still offer good value or would you say they are fairly valued and best to wait before taking full position? I have seen companies paying out over 100 percent and is that red a flag? Thanks very much.

Q: I am planning to wind down my energy stocks over the next few months because they are now approaching 2014 highs and, historically, these highs are temporary. Which would you back out of soonest and why? Or would you disagree completely? Thanks in advance.

Q: Peter,

The G & M normally lists the individual stocks that make up the various indexes of the TSX. They have changed the format of the paper and on Saturday's edition they have removed this information. Where could I find it?

I am looking for the actual stocks in the index, not the makeup of any ETF.

Thank you

Paul
