Q: I am trying to decide what to sell in my children's RESP account to generate cash flow for withdrawal to pay for upcoming tuition.

the portfolio consists of 5 investments in the associated %
BCE 45 %
TD 15 %
BMO 15 %
RY 15 %
Telus 10 %

What would you sell today? which one do you think has the best upside of doing well in 2025, that we should hang on to with the hope that it will perform well in 2025 ?

thanks

Ernie

Q: Hello, I like these two stocks and already have a 2% position in them. I'd like to continue building, but I keep reading how they are both currently overvalued. However, they seem to continue climbing in price! My positions are considerably lower than today's prices, so do you think averaging in would be okay or wait for a dip that may never come? Or could you suggest a couple other options for stable but high growth over the next few years? Thank you so much!

Q: Hi 5i, Could you help me understand what is going on with Hamilton Thorne (HTL)? I received a notice of a special meeting of shareholders. It looks like a takeover to go private and shareholders will receive $2.25 per share. Does that sound right? In these cases is there any chance they will not go private or do you think it that happens, it is just delaying the inevitable? Thank so much.

Q: Everyone seems to dislike bonds these days, especially long-term bonds. I was considering TLT for a portion of my portfolio, but I noticed a very poor return this year (4.7% one-year return), even though the Fed has clearly signaled rate cuts at the upcoming meetings. One explanation for the poor performance of treasuries is the oversupply of bonds. With U.S. debt ballooning, there seems to be fewer buyers. While, in theory, TLT's price should increase as rates go lower, I was reading that it may, in fact, remain flat and stuck in the sub-$100 range due to the oversupply. What are your thoughts on this?

Q: Can you please provide your opinion on what happens to floating rate funds as interest rates drop? Do you get a similar appreciation of the bonds with lower rates. I notice this fund is short duration so curious on your thoughts. YTD up 7% so a reasonable return but noticed in the short term with steeper drops it doesnt seem to perform as well.

Curious if a better play would be a longer duration fixed income fund?

Q: Hey can I get your take on this company’s latest results and drilling success. I feel it is at an inflection point and under-followed as evidenced by no question history at 5i :)
Thanks
