Q: Hi, Telecom stocks have been weak over past few weeks, perhaps due to bond yields creeping higher, once again. Is there any other reason/news which could have impacted the sector ? Telus, has been particularly soft and broke its 52 weeks low, in today's trading - any ideas, why? How do you foresee this sector and BCE/T performing over 2023 ? Thanks

Q: I received a Dividend Distribution Reminder from RBC regarding a NNRG dividend...$4.18/share. Ex-div date of Dec 29/22 and payment date of Jan 09/23. I've kept the email and reread it several times.
I would have expected the share price to drop roughly $4/share on Dec 29, but I have seen no share price movement anywhere near that level.
Can you shed some light on this? I have gone to Eric's website and see no dividend notifications. Could this be a mistake somewhere in the RBC system (doubtful)? Or...is there a chance I might receive the cash equivalent of the dividend on Jan 09/23 (I know...pipe dream)?
Confused...thanks for your help...Steve

Q: I currently have the following positions in the "FAANG" stocks: GOOGL (5%), MSFT and META (each less than 2%), AAPL (less than 1%).
Not interested in NFLX since I already have positions in DIS and ROKU, but I'm open to AMZN (although I have a small position in SHOP, less than 2%).
I want to reduce the number of stocks I own, so I'm looking to consolidate my FAANG positions. In what order would you rank the FAANG stocks at today's prices for potential future returns?
I have a long time horizon (decades) and a very diversified portfolio, so not worried about short-term declines in share price.

Q: How much runway does Goeasy have? Has it much business internationally? Will it need to expand internationally to keep up the high growth rates?
Q: Hello, I am thinking of adding to Canadian companies with safe dividend. Current dividend yield for good companies is around 6% and with dividend tax credit, this seems like a good return. I have cash in US$. The question is: 1. Is it better to convert US$ cash to CDN$ and buy these securities traded in CDN$ on CDN exchange. Or 2. Is it better to buy these securities traded in US exchange and traded in US$. The advantage is to avoid converting US$ cash in CDN$. Please comment on the following assumptions:
• Dividend paid by CDN companies traded on US exchange in US$ is also eligible for dividend tax credit?
• Dividend could be paid in US$ or CDN$
• Company or broker will issue T5 in either case
• What currency the T5 will be issued in?
• One has to calculate gain/loss and dividend due to exchange rate difference
• Exchange rate will impact Gain/loss for the CDN securities traded on US exchange and the gain/loss will be different for the two securities. The same dividend yield will be different also.

Q: Hi, Does the court approval of Rogers/Shaw deal create competitive disadvantage for Telus business prospects in the near and long term ? Its stock has been in oversold territory with RSI dropping around 25. It made a new 52 weeks low, in today's trading after the Rogers/Shaw news was announced. What are your thoughts ? Thanks

Q: Last year at about this time I asked you which was the worst perfomrning Canadian bank for 2021. Apparently It was RY and I bought it and it is down 3.3% to this date.
So 2 questions please
1)Which was the best performing Canadian bank stock in 2022 and what was the performance.
2) and which was the worst performing Canadian bank stock for 2022.
I picked up this strategy from your investor Suite article a few years ago and figure I can't go to far wrong following it.
Thanks and Happy New Year
Sheldon

Q: I recently bought some DFN.PR.A at $9.22 which pays a 5.5% dividend monthly. It "matures" on Dec 1, 2024 at which point my understanding I can redeem the shares at $10.. According to my calculations my return should be 9.81%. Is my return calculation correct and do you see much risk since it own the 15 biggest companies in Canada that pay high dividends?
Q: I've noticed that there are a lot of questions recently related to the various entities in the Brookfield empire. I initially thought it was overdone until I realized what a mess Brookfield has become in general. In my case I don't see my preferred X shares listed in my TD Waterhouse self directed account anymore. Have they been restructured? It's really hard to figure out what the heck they've done.
Q: Hello, in the last 30 days the price of CVO has increased by approximately 25% may be more. Is there any news to explain this sudden price jump? Happy New Year 2023,
