Q: What are your 5 or 6 top picks in this current market weakness. Long term hold and forget. No specific sectors but preferably large caps. I like dividends but does not have to be a dividend payers. Thank you!

Q: Hi, What are your thoughts on owning Stantec, with respect to its current valuation and future growth vis a vis its competitors ? We have a small position and looking to add, to increase our exposure to Industrial sector. Is it prudent to wait for the quarterly results, due in a couple of weeks or take advantage of current weakness due to markets ? What would be a reasonable price range to buy ? Thank You

Q: Both of these in a non-reg USD account. Considering selling BIP.UN for very small gain and investing proceeds in BEPC to claim dividend tax credit benefit (not much for me at 43% marginal rate). What do you see as downsides to this plan?

Q: it seems that some US insurance stocks are picking up some momentum now. i used to own AFL but switched it to AJG, but now own both again. what do you think of CRBG ? in the past i also used to own IFC and SLF but sold them for lack of growth. can you recommend any other CAN or US insurance stocks that have some capital gain in the last year or so ? thank you very much - nick

Q: Hi 5i.
Earlier in the year, my investment group decided to follow the theme of military and defense stocks, with the Russia/Ukraine war already well underway. We came up with a few smaller specialty companies that we thought might benefit from restocking arms and ammunition, war logistics, etc. Each has had a decent run so far this year. Wondering if you could provide a quick assessment of these companies and if you have any other ideas related to this theme. Also, what are your favourite large cap names in this space and maybe an ETF?

Q: Closed at 2.33 yesterday, then shortly after the company releases a prelim for Q3 of better than expected results than previously announced. They gave numbers that told an obvious story of improvement in all aspects. I consider this a load up scenario. I know your position is generally conservative but in this case isn't this a rare opportunity to buy in cheap with them giving you a glimpse of what is to come.

Q: Dear 5i
Could you please confirm the MER's for the above stated high interest funds and that the stated 12 month yield is net of the MER . Also is it more important to go with the fund with the higher yield or the fund with the tighter bid/ask spread or the fund with the tighter 52 week differential or try to determine the best when considering all three factors knowing there is some compromises ?
