Q: This share holders vote for GXE is a mess. I am reading other bullboards where share holders can't seem to get the form to vote for or against the proposed partial sale of GXE to CVE. They have the chance to chose if they want to take shares or cash as if they deal has already been approved. Is two months, considering those two months included Christmas, considered a short, long, or normal length of time for a company to make an announcement of a major change and the actual vote on the proposal by share holders? This deal seems very rush and communication from gxe has been minimal.

Q: I was looking to add to some of my steady, stable investments - including these two. Would you agree that the valuations are reasonable to purchase additional shares currently, or maybe recommend holding off on purchasing more of either/both of these, until the US tariff concern is better outlined - could this really depreciate the value of these railways?

Q: In a normal world I would keep both of these for diversification purposes. But this isn't a normal world. It's a Trump world and Feb.1 is an ominous date to me . I have a 3% position in HDIV and a 3.5% position in HYLD.U . I am re-balancing for Trumpification purposes generally { individual Trump vulnerable Canadian stocks are being sold and cash is being raised . Likely somewhere around 20%-25% cash when I am done } } and will likely increase HYLD.U to around 9-10% when finished . Would you endorse selling my HDIV and using the funds to increase HYLD.U ? Selling one to buy the other will bring my HYLD.U to somewhere around 6.5 % before I decide whether or not to go as high as 10% . The decision on the increase from 6.5% to 10% will be made after I see just exactly what he has planned ..... The question really is whether you would endorse a move away from Canada in the short term with these two ETF's ? At least until the smoke clears ? Thanks for your terrific service ......Garth ......

Q: Hi,

May I please have your take on the Gardasil vaccine lawsuit against Merck. Does this affect the fundamental investment thesis of Merck as a conservative, inexpensive stock with a decent dividend. I note the share price is down about 16% in the last year.

Would you be able to provide a couple of better options in the US healthcare space? I already own ISRG and LLY.

Thank you, Michael

Q: What's up with the HXS ETF today (Jan 21)? The Canadian dollar is down 0.1%, the S&P is up 0.65%, yet, instead of being 0.75% up, the HXS is down 1.2% at the moment and below yesterday's NAV. The volume is below average, so it doesn't look like any big sellers dumping shares. What can explain almost 2% difference between the expected and observed behaviour of this ETF?

Q: Hello Peter,
I tried to balance growth and income as well as dividends (no with holding tax in RRSP for US stocks but there is in TFSA), and hence, can you let me know if these make sense for a mid 20s person starting off to have a more growth in TFSA and more income in RRSP.
TFSA: veqt, vgg, and xfn and maybe xic ( veqt has cdn exposure so thought i would exclude xic )
RRSP: vbal, zuq, xic, and xuu all of these trade on tsx. Much appreciated.
