Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Thoughts on how to stomach all the volatility. Since I know you are not a fan of stop losses does one just grin and bear it. It's nice when some sectors are working but what does one do when all sectors potentially stop working? It seems there are so many unknowns which the market doesn't like. In your experience, what is it like to go through a bear market and what advice you you have for nervous retail investors. Your wisdom appreciated!

Q: I bought the above stocks in my Margin account last year and I'm down considerably on both so wondering at this point if you would bring any of them back to original weighting, sell or hold with a short reason why. Medium to high risk, long term growth investor.

Thanks in advance. Please deduct credits as you see fit.

Q: Good Morning Peter & team,

This name has experienced a significant drop since it's high on Dec 31 after experiencing a 700% ROR since May 2015. I know you can't predict a bottom and we are not to profess to be market timers. And we definitely don't like the idea of "catching a falling knife" but... FSV is starting to look more and more attractive the lower it gets. How do you think it will act with addition rate increases in the forecast and would you buy now or look for a bit of a bowl before moving in? Or would you council us to stay away and if so what would be the reasons?

Thanks for all you do

gm

Q: Just following up on your perspective relative to market sentiment. I find that the Indices are misleading, in a very LARGE way. In fact the divergence between them and the overall breadth and performance of mid/small caps is incredibly large. What references should/could be used outside of the indices in order to gain a true reflection of overall stock performance.

Q: I see an opportunity to be greedy when everyone else is fearful. In June 2021, AcuityAds Holdings sold a total of 5,665,025 common shares at a price of US$10.15 per share, for gross proceeds to the Company of US$57,500,003.75. As of the last quarterly report they still have the proceeds of this public offering sitting unused on their balance sheet. They have just announced a normal course issuer bid to repurchase up to 5,350,000 common shares. ATY closed at US$3.34, more or less unchanged today, after initially popping on news of their share repurchase. To me, this seems like a no-brainer for ATY: sell at US$10.15 and buy at US$3.34. At today's closing price, ATY could repurchase 5.35 million shares for US$17.9 million and still have nearly US$40 million left in the bank from their public offering!! I don't see any fundamental change in ATY's business prospects since June 2021. ATY is currently 1.6% of my holdings and I am wondering why I wouldn't keep buying shares at current prices until it reaches a full weight of 2.5%. What am I missing? Should I be greedy or fearful? I would appreciate your insights.

Q: Thank you for your great service I look at the questions almost every day. My question is about Shopify it looks to me that it has broken some support level. Could this mean the next level of support is back in the march lows of 2020? My technical analysis is not very good so please correct me if I’m wrong.
