Q: Dye and Durban reported results this morning which don't seem to have pleased the market. What do you think of this company? Also, do you find the negative stock action Friday mildly suspicious? This is not normally a stock that jumps up or down that much on no news.
Q: Hi Folks,
I am looking to add one of EIF, BAM or AD.UN to my diversified RRSP portfolio. Looking for a safe yield with a little growth. Is there one that stands out for your suggestion?
Thanks
Q: I am glad I bought a few thousand shares of frontier lithium in 2022. The seem to have a claim with various lithium deposits at or near surface. It is a big bonus that the claim is not far from the all-weather road and power lines that Ontario has built with that project to connect 16 or 17 first nations to the main power grid. Combining what looks like very good lithium deposits, in a safe, mining friendly jurisdictions with some mayor infrastructure not far away makes for an interesting investment. The chart on FL has gone almost vertical the past couple of weeks. I have not checked the volume and I am aware that the entire lithium sector has been strong lately, but is there something extra on your radar that can explain this rapid ascent in share price and if not, should I take some profits?
Q: Too good to be true alert: Can HMAX consistently deliver a 13% return using call options? This is near triple the yield on some of the big six bank stocks. It's hard to believe that a 13% return can be consistently delivered. Doesn't seem real. What might the downside be to owning this vehicle? Thank you!
The above companies are well below water, I have a 3 year window before needing to sell anything, please advised!
Should I sell, I would be purchasing companies like td, kxs, doo.
Thanks
Jim
Q: Can you please give your opinion on Sherritt's Q4 and year end result.
It looks like it lost money in Q4, but made money in the full year. The stock went down anyway.
Thank You
Q: All losers but long term investor. Would you rank them which are buyable to add to, hold or throw in the towel. Looking for 25% plus return in a 3-5 years horizon. Which fit the bill in your opinion. The best will be kept longer.
Q: I have US investments that pay a dividend some are stocks, some are LPs, and some trusts. I have just come across with holding taxes that are higher than I thought they were.
Where can I find details of how these are taxed for a Canadian holder.
Q: I’m looking to diversify a small portfolio in a TFSA by purchasing ‘some’ ETF’s with reasonable distributions and not too much risk to capital, the idea being that this is a growing ‘rainy day fund’. The most attractive ones, to me, involve at least some U.S. investments. I’m sure that the first thing you would say is that you are not tax experts. With that said, do you think that XHY’s income would be subject to the U.S. Witholding tax? And following that do you know of any online sources that list the tax implications of specific ETF’s re. Withholding tax? The most that ETF providers might say on their sites is that an ETF is TFSA/RSP eligible
.
I recognize that the tax does not rule out the utility of an investment. When would you ignore its’ presence for an investment? A long-winded question.
Q: Hi, can you give me your thoughts on some Cyber security stocks?
Is now a good time to be edging into these stocks or should I be waiting for a pullback everyone seems to say is coming soon?
I'm thinking of starting a position in either Crowdstrike or Palo Alto. Which would you recommend or do you have others you would prefer?
Thanks
Harry
Q: Hi 5i Team -My question is actually more on the future of AI. In an answer to a recent question on Google, you mentioned that the company is investing heavily in AI. In your opinion is this a concern? From current information and articles it seems that AI has its flaws and maybe even ethical questions around some of its applications. Could you please provide me with your outlook on AI, its strengths and weaknesses, and specifically how this might affect an investment in Google - and other companies that are investing in this technology. It's Friday night so there's no need to respond until sometime next week. Have a good weekend!
I'm looking for a CDN growth/tech ETF and I was astonished to kind TLF has a dividend of 6.5%?? And TXF has a dividend of 15.6%?? Is this true and is it safe?
I don't understand why growth ETFs would have dividends like this? Of the 3 ETFs mentioned, which would you recommend?
Rogers Sugar was a good pick for us, may be the timing was right. Now, It is time for us to trade it for another company that have a bit more growth. Your thought on swapping this name for Maple Leaf Foods /Tyson Foods or Calmaine/ Saputo.
