Q: Is PDBC a good hedge against inflation and would you recommend it ? What is the dividend with PCBC ? The information on my TD acct. and your website are very different. Are there eff's that provide the same commodity exposure that pay monthly or quarterly dividends that you would endorse. Thanks for your help.

Q: Can you comment on the investment merits of these two etfs. Are there others that you would see as more attractive for a diverse long term hold of both Canadian specific and US specific etfs?

Q: In my previous question, you commented on places to be if the market looks forward to the end of a recession later this year. In that context, can you also provide good sectors and stocks (trading on the TSX) that are good places to hide out in during the recession / for the period leading up to it (i.e. from now to the end of the year)?

Q: Barrick gold share price has been declining along with gold price . Would you be in favor to buy this gold miner company for portfolio diversification at this time and in this volatile investment environment? II have no gold or gold equivalent asset in my portfolio. I have refrain from a gold as a diversification asset in my portfolio so far. Given the perhaps opportunistic share price I am tempted to buy it for diversification. It does have a divided as well.
Thanks for your opinion in this matter.

Q: I just received a couple of weighty voting packages from Atlassian which I gave up on after the 74th “whereas”. I take it they are changing their domicile from UK to US, and essentially issuing new shares to be listed on the Nasdaq. If I understood the tax implications for Canadian shareholders if seems it will be a deemed disposition and capital gain or loss type of event. I know I am a little out of bounds asking for too much analysis about a non-Canadian company but just wondering if you had any thoughts. Is it a non-event or do you see any risks (competing with Boris Johnson for moving trucks?) or maybe possible upside? Thank you.

Q: Like a lot of stocks, the homebuilders seemed to reach a bottom on June 17 and then have steadily marched upward. Quite briskly, in fact, even in the face of increasing interest rates. To what do you ascribe their stock improvement, which outmatches almost any other sector I can see, up 25%-30% in a month.

Q: On July 14 you answered a question from Donald about share buybacks. However, the screener you provided a link for was apparently for US stocks only, and required a monthly subscription.
I am interested in specific buybacks for a limited amount of Canadian companies. I can of course see in announcements that an NCIB has been approved and such, but is there any way to know whether or not they actually are buying back stocks? Must I wait for a quarterly or annual report to find this out after the fact, or is there somewhere I can go to see purchases?
I do know that the amount of stock they have would be reduced, but wonder if the actual share cancellation happens at the buyback, or at their leisure sometime later?

Thanks PK

Q: Just curious what you guys think of this company. Pretty large at around 9B Market Cap, and roughly 44,000 employees, founded in 1885. My source shows a Forward P/E
of 22.6x and a forward P/S of 2.3x.
Do you like this Company, for diversification, and would the price get cut in 1/2 during a recession, as they seem to do a lot of Quality Assurance.
Thanks Gord
