Q: Can you please comment on quarterly earnings report. Was there anything of particular interest on the conference call (either positive or negative)? Currently down 64% and has dropped to .7% of total holdings. If this was in one of your model portfolios: which portfolio would you have it in, what size of allocation would you be targeting, and would you consider adding to its position in the next monthly member udpate?

Q: This is not a question, but an experience I'd like to share.

I have subscribed to Peter's covered call selling for many years. For instance I had a September expiry $30 CC on CCXI that gave me a $1.50 credit. So, the stock was selling at 24 and the CC strike was 30 and the credit for selling the call was 1.5. So potentially I could make a max profit of 7.50. Not bad I thought.

Then I woke up this am and was confronted with this:

Be prepared for that eventuality if you use the CC strategy. Even though it happens much less frequently then desired it does hurt the greed part of our ego. No doubt about that.

Q: In our concentrated portfolio of 20 stocks we hold the above industrials (total weighting 22%) and have been happy. GIC “missed” earnings today and is down today. Could you review its earnings and let us know if there are any red flags? Also would you see a better US industrial stock to fit into our portfolio? We are up 50% from where we bought GIC so there would be some tax considerations in selling…

THANKS for all your work.

Q: Any idea why Telus shares can’t be owned by non-residents of Canada? My broker informed me that my T.TO shares will be converted to “Non-Canadian” shares which don’t trade. I can switch back to regular shares only when I want to sell them. I’ve never run into this before and have been non-resident >10 years.
I prefer Telus over BCE but should I just switch over to BCE?

Q: What are 5i’s thoughts and analysis on $CAD vs $USD?

The Financial Post article below highlights forecasts of 5% upside (loonie towards .80c usd). What do you expect? Time-frame, certainty in closing the gap, etc.

https://financialpost.com/executive/executive-summary/posthaste-why-the-canadian-dollar-isnt-done-yet

Would now/months from now be a good time to convert some $USD to $CAD (i.e. moving over US equity index/stocks in USD to the same holdings in $CAD).

Q: BNN's Lightspeed earnings headline featured the $100M loss without mentioning the adjusted loss is $15.6M and better than expected.. Not impressed with their negative recap.
The stock is down 13% at one pm - is this short selling or anxiety about the headlines? They doubled their sales and have a billion in the bank! I'm a buyer!

Q: I'm liking Information Services Corp. dividend and it seems their earnings look pretty good as well. I'm guessing not a huge growth potential, but wondering about thoughts of company in possible recession and dividend security.
VCM seems to be on a positive trend, thoughts on this company as a potential addition at this time.
Thanks
