Q: I dipped my toe I the preferred share market at the offering of BROOKFIELD REN-A S-18 PFD in April. But being new to me I am hoping you can explain the ins and outs of what I purchased. I will be honest, I saw Brookfield renewable, 5.5% and the word preferred and hit the buy button. since that time it has steadily declined. the redeemable date is April 2027. Additional questions are: 1) on the redemption date will they be redeemed at my purchase price or market price? 2) the current yield based on current price is 7.31% would you buy more at current price? 3) for future reference when should an investor buy this type of share?
thanks for the great service. deduct as many credits as you feel is fair.

Q: Was around $7 then a Murray Wealth Group report leaked that they will miss earnings on the high side. The stock went fro $7 to $5. Then the earnings came out and after initially rising over $5, they have now dropped to $3.70.

Was the earnings bad enough to warrant this drop? Does this make sense or is the a "table pounding buy" with a present PE of lower than 10?
Thanks

Q: Re: Lorrianes question on holding gold.
As an option there are these two ETR's available through the Canadian Mint (US and CDN) . I believe they will send you the gold if you have a full 10000 ETR's. Here is the website link

Q: Any thoughts on BQE as a play on increased mining activity due to commodity demand? I feel China is a risk given a lot of their business is here but they also have North American exposure. Environmental impact minimization of wastewater would seem to be a mandatory thing for any new mine permitting. I see the US is looking for Rare earth sites in Canada so overall, I do expect an increase in mining activity in North America. Do you agree?

Q: A Bloomberg recently article said that Enbridge is going to apportion space on a segment of its Mainline system by the most since November last year. It went on to say that 'apportionment is when shippers reduce volume when they see too much demand on a system, and has contributed to a glut of supply in the past as producers are left with the excess'. The article further said that 'pipeline apportionment has previously led to large discounts for Canada’s crude oil and now threatens already-weak oil prices'.
Lastly, it said that 'the rise in apportionment signals that export lines may be filling up again amid record oil production in the province and rising demand for Canadian...'
I couldn't unpack the above and was wondering the effect it would have on the stock. I see that today 21 Nov the price has not moved much.
Many thanks

Q: I've missed the energy company run up (other than my lone holding = SU) but maybe better late than never? Which Canadian oil and/or gas producer would you recommend?

Q: I purchased AQN a couple of years ago and when it hit around $10 a week or so I purchased again doubling the amount I own. It is still not a significant amount of my holds.
However, I am wondering if I could sell the original amount purchased couple of years ago at a higher price and claim a capital loss for those shares even though I have purchased more recently.

Q: I still have a lot of preferred shares in various Canadian companies, along with some in the CPD ETF. These were all legacy investments from a long-ago advisor. I am no fan of pref shares and now wonder if its' time to dump them all and go into true fixed income like laddered GIC's. I still fail to see a case for pref shares and also wonder whether I'm better to put the proceeds into relatively solid equities, like say ENB, SLF, T or the like. The dividends are roughly equal to my pref share positions and I know that equities can drop in share value. So do the pref shares, in my experience, but the prefs have such limited upside potential. Your thoughts please.
