Q: I wonder if I could get you to speculate what impact Bernie Sanders being elected President might have on the markets. And how one might adjust a portfolio in response/anticipation of such an event. For example, I imagine there could be a major impact on health care stocks.

Q: Hello Peter,
If the US economy hypothetically grows closer to 3 percent as forecasted by Trump; which sectors would lead the way in your opinion?
Also, the Canadian economy should also experience a tailwind. How would you suggest the portfolio could be adjusted?
Any pointers to specific stocks both here and south that one could look at?
Regards.

Q: I have read that investing in AMD seasonally ,from October to April generally results in great returns . I own NVDA which has finally come back to my purchase price due to the Trump/China war. The best performing names are semis that I haven’t heard of . Are Semiconductors best as investments or swing trades ? Do you feel that AMD, INTC will perform better than NVDA .

Q: Most mj stocks are down -80% from their "highs"

Was this a market bubble much like jr mining stocks in 2007? Were participants led by greed to speculate in assets which they did not know how to value?

I expect a good rebound in Oil shares in January, February. TMP is being built perhaps other pipelines as well. Both Liberals & Conservatives want TMP to be completed.

Q: In my opinion the U.S. China trade relations will soon improve. One reason being Trump does not want to go into an election without the economy firing on all cylinders. Can you suggest a stock that will benefit from the easing of trade barriers.

Q: BABA & other Chinese Companies got hit from Trump's comment re not listing of Chinese Companies in New York. .Assume this would be for new listings and not effect Companies presently listed. This downward move effects U S Pension Funds and U S Citizens that hold Chinese companies . Not a smart move. China holds $ 1 4 Trillion US Treasuries. All they have to do is start selling these U S treasuries in retaliation to his moves. Your comments please .

Q: Greetings 5i,

Trump retaliates in trade war with orders for American companies to "immediatly start looking for alternatives to China".

Where, what industries or companies in Canada, would you speculate there to be rising opportunities as a result?

Any additional thought would be welcome.

Cheers!

Q: Hi Peter

You recently wrote an article about investing versus gambling which neatly explained why investing was not gambling. I had no issue with your explanation, but must admit that lately I am concerned that investing is starting to feel more and more like gambling. You just do not know what Trump is going to Tweet or do next. China’s reactions are another issue. I am not confident that Trump fully understands what he is doing. Case in point , his remarks that China is adding all kings of money into the US Treasury due to the tariffs he is imposing. Look at the reactions to his plan to impose further tariffs on China and subsequent devaluation of the Chinese currency. You just do not know what he will do next. But it does look like China is digging in for along term battle. Your comments please. Uncertainty is extremely high now. So why not sell most equity investments and move to the sidelines?
