Q: In a normal world I would keep both of these for diversification purposes. But this isn't a normal world. It's a Trump world and Feb.1 is an ominous date to me . I have a 3% position in HDIV and a 3.5% position in HYLD.U . I am re-balancing for Trumpification purposes generally { individual Trump vulnerable Canadian stocks are being sold and cash is being raised . Likely somewhere around 20%-25% cash when I am done } } and will likely increase HYLD.U to around 9-10% when finished . Would you endorse selling my HDIV and using the funds to increase HYLD.U ? Selling one to buy the other will bring my HYLD.U to somewhere around 6.5 % before I decide whether or not to go as high as 10% . The decision on the increase from 6.5% to 10% will be made after I see just exactly what he has planned ..... The question really is whether you would endorse a move away from Canada in the short term with these two ETF's ? At least until the smoke clears ? Thanks for your terrific service ......Garth ......

Q: Dear 5i Team!

I am sure like many millions you have been watching Presidet Trump's inagural address. Especially given the fact that the US market is closed toay because of MLK day!
Any takeaways from investment/trading points of view?

Canadian market is open and I see Oil has barely moved. (post Trump speech) Gold is down but to an alrming extent. CAD is slightly up! I am not sure if this is because the US markets are closed or because of "moderate" tone in Trump's speech. I didn't hear China or Iran ONCE! Neither did he bring his desire for the 51st state!

Anyway feel free to share your musings.

Q: Reviewing all your input on this stock, was wondering if you could share your take on the TD summary of analyst ratings (5) where three (3) are suggesting it is a "sell" while two (2) rank it as a "hold", average target price being $33.04 while today it is trading at $35.83!
Am I missing something here. Appreciate all you excellent support.
Ted.

Q: I am interested in the divergence in performance between BN and its associated companies including BEP.UN. I own BEP.UN and BIP.UN both of which have a history of strongly outperforming BN. More recently they have fallen off while BN has fluorished. Can you comment and what would be your advice on switching some holdings into BN?
Thanks

Q: The market cap of this roll up company is 5.6 Billions and they have about 5 Billions in cash. They try to buy their first company Beacon roofing now. Do you think it is a good idea to buy a small position at the current price for the long term ? Thank you

Q: I think we might get an opportunity to buy o&g names at a discount soon as they are already pulling back out of fear of Trump tariffs, even though oil prices have been stronger. If you could only invest in 1 or 2 oil or gas names on the pullback, with the qualifier that its not a forever hold and I'm looking for something with decent torque to the upside when political worries go away, what names would you pick? As an example I'd probably avoid CNQ since it doesn't drop as much when oil is negative, but also doesn't go up as much when oil is positive. Thx

Q: As irrational as it seems,Trump may impose tariffs soon after his inauguration just to appease his voting base.A likely “knee jerk “reaction would send these stocks lower.Do you think this would create a buying opportunity? Are there others in your portfolios that could be affected? Some of this uncertainty must be already be priced in,but CLS seems immune to this.

Q: So I’m sitting here day dreaming about SOBO. I understand Keystone XL is now their “ asset “ and wondering about possible scenarios under Trump. If he again OK’s it , would the stock move and in what direction, will it get built, is it still needed , would it be doable for this size company , etc ? Needing to add to my list of high dividend stocks, SOBO interests me and wonder what this sizeable project would have on the stock. Thanks.Derek

Q: Dear 5i team.

Ref. my Q of Nov 4,24 re: Long bonds.
As a followup, at the time, the US 10 yr was 4.3%. It appears to now have broken the 5% mark, and possibly heading higher. I've read in the past to keep an eye on the 10yr bond as a "canary in the coal mine" scenerio.
Can you update your views on this please, with more commentary re: the elasticity of the 10 yr and how this could impact equity/bond markets? Any possible moves DIY investors should be considering as a result of your commentary?

Many thanks for your help understanding this relationship.

Q: We have ~$8000 in cash in a TFSA currently holding 5 securities (ATD, BCE, CP, GOOG, TECKa; [the portfolio is otherwise well-diversified with ~20 other securities held within RSP/non-registered accounts]), and would like to add to one or two of the positions. Which one or two would you recommend to add to these existing holdings (position size is not an issue), and why?
